My student copy is in a black sleeve, and says license for use only by students and faculty

found out in lil black print says
Not for Retail or OEM distribution, Not for resale

I took a pic of the disk in the sleeve, slightly censored it
if anyone needs to see it.

    Naa.

It seems just like the retail version except you cant sell it to someone else.

Or neither are you allowed to use it if you're not a student or if you finish studying.

And remember: All this talk about legality and allowance is about the license key and not the disc you have. If your key works (without any tweaking or cracking), you have a legal copy.

Is the serial key the same for OEM and RETAIL? So is someone has lets say a Vista 64bit Ultimate OEM cd could you use that key to install Vista 64bit Ultimate RETAIL? you would need to use a RETAIL cd though right? or would that not work?

    I doubt that very much.

The difference between retail and OEM copies lies in the license, not the actual OS itself. Vista will behave exactly the same regardless, it's the activation (and potential re-activation) that differs.
