Single Player: Zelda: OOT Zelda: TP Condemned Multiplayer: UT99 (started me off really) AOE2 COD4 (single player was brilliant up to Mile High Club on Veteran when it just became frustrating)
My favourite games are ones that I played excessively for weeks on end, to the exclusion of reading, watching tv and dvd's, and in the case of goldeneye, eating and studying for exams. still blame that game for my lousy 2nd year results in uni. Zelda: OOT (N64) Goldeneye (N64) Tetris (GB) Treasure Island Dizzy (spectrum +) Star wars: Knights of the old Republic (Xbox) Advance wars (GBA) GTA VC (Xbox)
The first thing that sprung to mind and I can't think of anything I'd put ahead of it is the Original Command & Conquer on PC. Still have my copy, still play it
Best Games: Portal The entire half life series Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2 Sim City Class and 2000 Favourite Games: Portal HL series GTA:Vice City, many hours with friends trying to 100% the game. Lego Racers on the PS1
I love a really good game, but those games (Bioshock, HL, COD4 etc) are certainly not my favourite games. I would say a favourite game should be one I've played the most. I've obviously enjoyed it if I've played for ages and not got bored (which puts WoW out of the running instantly). Mafia, GTAs, DoD:source and Pixel Junk: Monsters are my most played games by a long way, so I guess they are my favourites.
Hard to pick "the best", but probably GTA:VC on the PS2, sound track, gameplay, awsome. The list bellow is my "treasured memories" list of games: CoD:UO (PC) - mp on DVDF servers Cheesecake! just great fun! CoD4 (PS3) - i loved the sp, short but engrossing! and mp is on a par with CoD:UO California Games (Linx) -haggy sack, nuf said Escape from the Planet of the Robot Monsters (Amiga) - just. awsome. Wing Commander (Amiga) - Cats in space. Golden Eye (N64) - ... Cannon Fodder (Amiga) - the gaveyard was sombre sight Sensible Soccer (Amiga) - no fancy footwork Championship Manager (can't remember which one '97/'98 on PC) - Cowdembeath in the Champions league! FIFA Road to World Cup '98 (PS1) - i failed my a-levels but i'd kick yer ass with Fiji
Deus Ex!!!! But also: Half-Life The Orange Box Unreal Tournament (1999) Medal of Honor:Spearhead - I frickin' loved the mulitplayer on that!
I get the same effect with Final Fantasy VII. Playing it again, I know it's not that amazing, but it still seems like the most brilliant gameplay experience ever. (Read: EVAR.) I first played it when I was in secondary school, and the general carefree happiness and good social contacts from that time make FFVII a constant warm-glow nostalgia trip for me. It was this that made me conclude that 'best game' arguments are futile, that it's heavily subjective depending on when you play a game in your life. If you gave me FFVII again now and I'd never played it, I'd think it was balls - as proven by my recent attempt to get into Ocarina Of Time. All subjective.
Just come back from Egypt today and I brought my N64 etc with me back here in it's carry case, can't wait to plug it all in, but yeah. Goldeneye N64 - Best SP Wolfenstein, Enemy Territory - Played this online for over 4 years, still play it sometimes now, ranked up so many many hours on it.
i read on the first page that someone considered hl2 as the best game they ever played (and that he had never played the first one.....) that in itself is almost criminal... you think 2 is good?! hl was the mother of games!!!! unbelievable... ff7 was stupid too.... if i had to choose right now?! 1) ff7 2) half life
Singleplayer: Console - Legend Of Zelda: OOT PC - Portal or Star Wars: Jedi Knight(the first PC shooter I remember playing was Dark Forces, but I got it with Jedi Knight, and preferred Jedi Knight) Multiplayer: Console: Goldeneye or Super Smash Bros. Melee PC - Team Fortress 2 or Counter-Strike 1.6 That's what I think I'd choose at the current moment, although some choices might be influenced by what I've played recently and my current desire to play Jedi Knight right now.
it's gotta br CnC red Alert: 2, enless hours have been spent bilding my base, turtling, then destroying waves of enemies, best played with the purple alert mod for it
