It's a free-software on their site which I downloaded. Absolutely Easy to use. It's 2D with inbuilt ordering application.
I ordered the parts a week ago... stunning fast delivery.

how do you bend the mesh to be flush like that?
did you just lay it on a hard flat surface and bend away?

 

Brilliant work so far, I think mounting the drive in the spare expansion slots is just inspired

 

thanks again...that inspired me a lot to kep on with the work.

I laid the mesh flat on the cut out and with the residuary cut-out I pressed it in. Unfortunately they used a 3mm milling cutter that the opening around was 3mm and it din't fit so nicely as I presumed. I'll do that again and wind some sticky tape around the residuary cut-out to reduce the opening.

Later in the evening I'll come up with some pics as a how2.

what did you use to bend the heatpipes with?

unfortunately no way in Germany to get em on ebay. But Shuttle send me two 10 cm sata cables.

Re bending the heatpipes. I used a...dunno how to say...erm a tube spring. the inner daimeter of it mazches the outer of the heatpipe. and it's flexible.
so yer able to bend it and then pull it from the bent heatpipe.

Well, the mcubed was my inspiration...but couldn't effort it (or better: I wouldn't pay for it ) ....
I hope it'll turn out as well as the mcubed. the whole stuff costs me around 700 euros (approx 565 gbp). With all that gizmos inside the mcubed would cost 2.000 euros, whats around 1600 gbp...

I know what you mean. I'm working on an HFX Mini, which I mostly scavenged together from a B-grade case and used components via eBay --which cuts the price considerably. But I have some criticisms of certain aspects of the design, and think that I will have to make some modding improvements...

Hi Folks, time for an update.

This is the work of two long evenings and a sunday.
It doesn't look much, but t'was timeconsuming all that soldering, filing and and assembling and disassembling while I tried the components to fit.

That's the emergency fan which is now shroudless, that the air can paas out. I call it "Free Wheely" ...



Here , that's the wire harness. Only the needed contacst. No more no less. But took me some time.



And that's the result. Viewed from top you can see...all wires in a fine order.



And then I thought over and over agin, what sort of acrylic I should use for the display.
I tried an acrylic two way mirror...but I didn't like it. Was too much silverish in the front.
Blue, yes blue... ahh, found a forlorn piece in the garden shed and cut it right away.



wohoo, and after that I tried how it looks like. Well, see...



Ather that I was quiet happy with the look of it and installed OS and the VFD driver plus software and it turns out like this....

I'd say: "Finished"...

Some last things are over.

I want to put a usb port between the fins on the left side coz on the backside is not very convienent.

Of course final pics have to be made. I think I'll do that when I've set up the whole rig
in my drawing room and when mediaportal will be installed.
I'll report then about the temps...
