    how much would such items cost?

    - 1 Core Module;
    - 1 DIN Module (16 buttons + 8 Rotaty Encoders)

    again i have a very basic knowledge, i understand rotary encoders, could i use optical versions, if so help with the electronics design.....

    is the core module the 'bridge' between the DIN module and the midi connection? Dose the DIN module allow up to 16 buttons and 8 encoders? as i believe i dont need that many..

    love this project! :D

    i found this (core module) under the MBHP .. is this correct? I also found this which i think is an easy way to understand the core module

    Also loving midibox, the possibilites! starting to think about adding an LCD, but that would come after the basic setup is built...

    Hi Burnout21,

    Very nice you visited the Midibox site :thumb:

    The Core module is the heart and brain of the project, everything is processed there. It's powered with a PIC18F452 and inside it runs the MIOS (Midibox Operational System) which includes a Bootloader and an Application layer where you can upload the Midibox applications like LC (logic control) and Midibox64.

    I started the tutorial, it will be a stand-alone Midibox to Winamp controller which will includes many buttons and virtual pots. The tutorial will show the steps with texts, pics and videos.

    We will use the Midibox64e application to interacts with the 'Midibox to Winamp' software. Midibox64e includes, besides the buttons and rotarty encoders, some analog ins (pots and slide pots).

    You can make the PCBs of the Core module and DIN module at home, or order it from SmashTV's website, he sells the printed PCB's and the components. Of course, you can order your components from your favourite electronic store.

    think i will order the parts here in the UK, smashTV's are expensive to ship it here. My uni has an electronics lab so i could program a PIC18F452 myself, i can also make my own PCB's which makes life cheaper!

    great thread.
    I know that you need the core module for all projects on the midibox site, but for that winamp controller do you need anything else like the din and dout??? looking at the farnell website and i was like WTF??? rotary encoders are $500, is there anywhere that you can get them cheaper?

    Nice!! if you can make your own PCB's great!! and the best thing is to have a PIC burner, so you will be able to upload the MIOS anytime, i have a PIC burner...it's really cheap here.

    For the Winamp app we will need only one Core module and one DIN module, DOUT will be optional (if you want to turn on/off the LED when press a button).

    The encoders that you are looking at Farnell are wrong, in fact it's cheap, i got some from SmashTV's website for US$ 1.00 each (US$ 1.25 w/ built-in switch)

    I know that Farnel UK sells ALPS rotary encoders for about GPB 5.00, but the ALPS is expensive, try to find Bourns.

    - You can make your own PCB's and just want to order the rotary encoders (it's your case Burnout21):

    -> You can find quality Bourns's encoders from GPB 0.80, here.

    - You prefer to order the PCBs:

    -> Order everything from SmashTV's, despite the shipping cost, there are killing prices, for example: the same encoders at US$ 1.00.


    U.S residents:

    - You can make your own PCB's and just want to order the rotary encoders:

    -> Order the encoders frrom from SmashTV's, you won't find best prices even at mouser.com.

    - You prefer to order the PCBs:

    -> Order everything from SmashTV's, low shipping cost and killer prices.

    ...

    Thanks burnout 21 for taking the time to look for the encoders. i'll either order them from farnell or see if i can get them in NZ from an electronics supplier. Yeah the price of all this shipping the pcbs and parts (cant etch the boards, stuff them up every time!!) from America hurts my eyes, but maybe i could get my teacher to buy some kit for the recording studio, and maybe that might bring the price down??? for me.

    It's really fantastic! in fact i already knew the Xynergi and another amazingly insane editing devices.

    But, it's exactly what the Midiboxers (and most DIYers) have been trying to avoid: amazingly insane prices!

    But anyway, i love displays and OLED for me is really eye candy, really great product!

    Oreon_237: Oreon, it's exactly i'm talking about, pick the model with 24 CPR and 20mm of shaft. The S or N option in the part name is: S=Built-in switch (3 pins of the encoder + 2 pins of the switch) / N=Normal (without switch, 3 pins only).

    Hi there, can you guys please help me on how to wire a 1 motorized fader, in way that it can move following the updated levels different tracks in my daw. like is I am in track 1 it reads level of track one as I go to the next it update to the track level? I have bought the material from http://www.halemicro.com/Products/Products.html and also ALPS's Motor Fader (60mm), please this highly important for me
