I don't use corel, but have you tried running the installer as an administrator?

Also, make sure your .Net is up to date.

You might also want to try installing it after booting into safe mode?

Are you installing it from a CD/DVD? If not maybe the .exe is currupt.

he said it worked on xp so the .exe wouldnt be corrupt. It just might not be compatible with vista yet. If you can't get it to work maybe try OpenOffice It's pretty decent and I think it supports the Word Perfect file formats too.

I'll second OpenOffice being good. I use it all the time even though I have MS Office too - I only really got MS Office for Outlook!

Try changing the permissions on the SYSTEM account to read/write/modify on the C:\Users\Username folder to see if this works.

Or it could also be a permission issue on the C:\Windows\Installer folder.

Permissions should be something like this below:

Everyone - Read & execute, list folder contents and read
    SYSTEM - Full control
    Administrators - Full control

The Administrators group should be the folder owner.

    Hope this helps.

this is what you do, don't use Vista :) wait for SP2 or even better Windows 7
and 2ndly, go openoffice, and unlike coral office or office 2007 you'll have loads of support

Although it should work on vista, it may be worth a try to try installing it in XP mode as it has worked for me on two occasions in the past.

Go to the CD and open it, right click the the install icon and got to Compatability, in Compatability mode tick "Run this program in compatability mode for:" selecting Windows XP (Service Pack 2). Even though its a read only disc Windows will save this option.

Hopefully you can install the program. Let us know.

it works fine on vista. I tried when i first read the post. I believe that its a localised problem.

It used Microsoft's own installer which is why I asked if any other MSI packages work - It would help to know...
