Does anyone know where I can buy DCF77 receiver modules in the UK? Conrad seems to be the only place that had them, but they don't list them on their international site and the German site does not accept credit card payments I'm working on a combined nixie and vfd clock which I need a receiver for...
AFAIK, Conrad is the ONLY place where you can get these little modules (#641138-29): I had the opportunity to buy bigger (and hopefully better) modules through Ebay Germany from a particular seller:
Thanks for the reply Turbokeu. I can't find any on eBay now but I'll keep looking. I was trying to find some info on making my own, since it looks fairly simple, but nothing much came up. Perhaps one could be hacked out of a clock...
Same here, I bought a couple of these, just haven't had the time to build my clock yet. http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail?name=561-1015-ND It's not indicated on the site, but these modules actually come with the antenna as well. I ended up buying about 4 different antennas to try (all from C-MAX), ranging from the large bar to the watch antennas. They have come down in price too, when I bought them, they were over $17.
The given variant of hours has very much liked Whether probably to receive their scheme, the drawing PCB and an programm of the microcontroller ?
Congratulations to all, So enchanted by your projects, but for me that I live in Sicily Italy which receives the signal dcf only at night, like I do? Thanks
update Hi Chris, Sorry to all that I havent been on here for a long time. Life got really hard for me here. I just got back to work after 1 month for a back surgery. WHile off, I read up on the PIC micros from the Nutz and Volts magazine. I got a PIC project book which I am barely starting to understand some things about micros. Then I realized it's been 20 yrs since I was in college. Man has technology changed... I am thinking about getting the PICkIT2 system with PIC basic Pro complier. I am purchasing Chucks book on programming PIC in basic, that is what I seem to pick up for now. Will learn C later. Love to tell you my kool designs sometime. I think you'll like them, Have you checked into PC boards from Express PCB? Will they work for you? I am going to try PCB123. I'll let you know, but from the start it looks hard to layout a board, so I am not sure this is good. If I only knew about all this timing stuff, ..... Anyways, I am back Take care Tom
I am majourly impressed that this thread is still going strong after like 3 or 4 years! I still have the desire to make a giant incandescent clock using the 100s of 20w 240v filimant bulbs i have here, but i dont fancy finding wall space or power for it, plus the 48 relays (which i do actually have aswell) and 3x 16bit shift registers would make a bitch of a circuit. Switching mains with a PIC is never fun either as there are lots of stange currents flying about, snubbers and the like...
on and on and on .... I think that this thread will still go on for many years to come. It is a joy to see people from all over making clock projects of various sizes and displays. Keep it going everyone....
KOOL MAN, I can't wai tto see what you got up your sleeve. I have a ton of kool projects myself, but I have no cash for finishing them at the moment. Saving for a trip to Vegas fo rmy 40th BD. But when I get back.....
16x16 font Does anyone know how or where I can find a font for numbers on a 16 x 16 led matrix look good? I am looking and cant find anything yet.
You could try making your own using a graphics program and its text function. Set the image to 16 x 16 pixels and adjust to just fit. You might have to tweek it a bit but this should work. Stu
My housemate has just bought/is about to buy a scrollsaw, so he has a vague plan to make a perspex clock. Also a valve clock, which would be so cool!!! Joe
