Scratch Build – In Progress DIY MDF CNC MACHINE

I have made my First CNC Router complete steel in 10 days... Before making it i just studied a lot ..make the drawings in my mind and started....It was 55" x 35" and the working area is 34" x 28"....and Now i am going to make other one out of MDF and a little bigger than first one with following specifications...


1- The size of my table is 60" x 44"
2- The working area is 48" x 34"
3- The travel of Z-axis is 7"
4- Nope in this machine i am using ACME screw (5/8"-5TPI)... The length of long axis(X-axis)is 62" and the small axis(Y-axis) is 46"... the length of the z-axis ACME screw is 17"...
5- Building material MDF
6- NEMA 23 stepper motors 200Oz-in
7- 36V power supply with home made SLA based controller and BOB

I want to see the "How to make the CNC Machine".
because my CNC Machine was damaged~

 

NEMA 23 stepper motors 200Oz-in~

Are these stepper motors use 36V

That must be highest speed and strongest Pull-out torque with theseself

Here I will use NEMA 23, 3Amp/Phase KsllingInc motors...Yup i will use them with 36V to get optimum torque and speed...Many people using NEMA 34 for their all steel construction machine, but in my case i use the same NEMA 23 200Oz-in motor with my 1st steel machine and now in the second MDF machine...

Now in following pictures
1) I need Angle iron .. Size 1 inch from this we will make slide rails
2) Teflon/plastic ...from this we will make driving nut of ACME rod
3) Small piece of ACME ROD about 150mm length ...from this we will make Tapping die for our teflon/plastic nut
4) We can use steel nut, this will avoid above two stepos
5)Skate Bearing 6201 ZZ
6)1/2" bolts with nuts
7) ACME RODS as i mentioned above (5/8" 5TPI) as per above mentioned length
8) MDF 1/2"--8' x 4' one sheet
9)MDF 4' x 8'...02 sheets

Above are the initial requirements...not contains electronics parts

 

Well~look like so big for this cnc machine~
Can this to cutting aluminium alloy~
I want to change my stepper motor~

Can something is out of topic~

RANLAI I don't know the language sorry... This machine i dont think can cut material..It will be huge

what kind of cutting tool are you going to use? a router?


I would also like to know if this is able to cut aluminum as that would be great?

I could not estimate its size at the beginning,

When I saw the Z-AXIS proportion~
This is so biggest,
Generally speaking Z-AXIS only compared to stepper motor big one to two times~

How about the weight with the Z-axis torsion box??

 

My steel one is able to cut aluminum, however the MDF one i don't think I am using the router bit set (wood working), and using only 6.7mm endmill for cutting the parts of the second machine with 100 IPM...

 

nice cnc, ive alwas thought about maybe making a cnc machine

 

^^^ our school has 3 CNC mill and a CNC lathe

The 2 small endmills cost $12,000 and the big one cost +$20,000


And one of our rival schools has a CNC that can cut 2 doors side by side at the same time!!!

sorry for skipping a few chapters ahead, but your projects look to be coming along nicely.

I'm definately going to keep an eye on this mod. Props for going out and actually making your own CNC machine. I'd love to do something like that but my skills in this department are definately lacking.
