Scratch Build – In Progress DIY MDF CNC MACHINE

Wow. I can't wait to see more from this project.

 

This is a great project, and very dificult to make. I am looking forward for this one. Five star coming from here

 

I am suprised that there is no deminsions given for all the parts . This along with several other articles I have found show how easy this is to make...and I believe them, just no one ever posts any specific plans for them.

Anyways, I really like the idea to be able to make your own CNC machine as it would be very handy for making stuff other than for modding...I just refuse to pay the $1500 price tag for something so "easy" to make yourself ;D

 

i will try to post AutoCad 2D drawing for this machine... But u have to get the dimensions out of it.

What sort of stepper motor controllers are you using?

 

I am using SLA 7062 based controller..Made by one of my friend

So at last i manage to make holding plate for my new Router...This router is different from previously installed in my all steel machine... So i came up with a different solution... I also manage to machine the MDF sliding blocks holding plate..You can see in picture violet colour...

 

Regardless, looking at the pic after this quote is the reason people would want plans...just look at it, it is GREAT!!! Looks simple and easy to make, and I am drooling . With everything that you have used so far, it looks like the most expensive part is the router. MOD ON!!!

 

Here is my machine almost 99% complete..I installed the bed sheet over torsion box and it comes out beautiful, I will check it tomorrow, following pictures are the machine after applying two coats of primer

I would like some more detailed text, because i am a complete ignorant on the subject. I see the pictures, and i can understand some... but i don't know whats going on there

I would love to see a video of it working.

Thats one EPIC project, whenever i read diy cnc machine I expect a tiny one for doing stuff like printed circuit boards and stuff. But i guess if its worth doing its worth doing huge. Well done !

I am planning to built my 3rd machine It will be same size but in it, i will use angle iron and V-rollers bearings. I will first make the drawings of that new machine.....I will share each step with all of u...Unfortunatly i was not aware that people here may interested in fabrication of CNC machine, so i didn't take pics of every step...

As far as this machine is concerned, Tomorrow i will try to commission it. Currently i am laying wiring and instrumentation setup.
This picture will give u a rough idea of size of my MDF machine
