I know I'm not a regular forum poster, but I do check Bit-Tech daily and I'm surprised that we haven't had a HD4850/70 review.

I was just wondering, will we be seeing one?

    WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER!!

No but seriously, if one is in the pipeline at the minute, then its worth the wait, bit techs reviews are always very thorough. Which is why I joined up here.

I can't wait to see them up against the GTXs, and the 8800GT/S/X and ultra. Though I think I might cry when I see how much my 8800GT gets toasted.

I was wondering about this as well, perhaps a roundup of recent graphics cards would be better though? (including the GTX280/260, HD4850/4870, 9800GTX+, 9800GX2, 8800GTX etc)

Wasn't Tim or someone talking about a review when they had the samples long enough to write one?

Or was that the 280? I can't remember, or find the post that it was mentioned in now >.>

    :hehe:

That would be good, but I thinking they'd review it with a bit of an introduction to the architecture.

Either way, I'll try and be patient and keep checking. I look forward to it (if we get one).

Tim, usually takes longer than most people, due to the fact that this is a new chipset and also he uses realworld benching so it usually takes a week or two longer than most.

That being said i'd gladly wait for his final review as it pretty much covers all areas of said products.

Reviews of 4850, 4870, GTX260 and a real world gaming performance showdown of all 4 cards are currently in the pipeline - just remember that's a hell of a lot of benchmarks to run!

    Excellent!

I understand that, I'm just impatient. SODs law will have it that, once you're finished the Catalyst 8.7's will be released. >.<

You've probably got the Press 8.7's anyroad, so all isn't lost.

I know these things take time but I'm just impatient to see how they all measure up against each other, I'm tending towards a 4870 purchase, assuming the reviews aren't disasterous.
The only problem is that prices are still wavering about at present and there are rumours of unrestriced versions of the ATI cards about to surface in a few weeks. I figure what the hell, we've had a long wait so a little bit longer won't really matter - but I still wish you'd hurry up!!!!!

    So the 4850 will beat a 9800GTX and the 4870 will beat a GTX260.
    Impressive indeed.

I expect the 280 was supposed to be mentioned, too :B

I guess he had his GTX200 review just about done (crappy divers delayed it?) then the 48XX were released and timmy had to start over.

Either way, the review is coming. I convinced my friend to buy a 4850 yesterday to replace his X1900 and to tide him over until the 4870X2 is released. MUHAHAHAHA! My girlfriend will love me (even more) for buying his 4850 for a cheaper price for her Birthday. I'm interested to see if a 4850 AGP will be released - I highly doubt it, but I said that about the 3850.
