Hello Can anyone please tell me if Playstation 2 games can be played in a Playstation 3 as may work mate wants to buy one. Thanks.
The 80GB PS3 can also play PS2 games, but it is partially limited. It's software BC so not every game will work (but more than 80% will). If you can get your hands on a 20gb or 60gb that is 100%. If not avoid the 40GB if you can and get the 80GB.
I have a 250 GB Originally it was a 60 GB so i should be fine for ps2 games even though i sold all mine?
You sold all your PS2 games? I hope you just mean all the crappy ones I still play Disgaea and Makai Kingdoms on my PS3 now. You should be fine though for playing PS2 games. As long your PS3 was the 60GB hardware configuration it has a PS2 Emotion Engine inside for full PS2 BC. Same for the 20GB.
Nope, got rid of my ps2, and all 36 of my games, along with my xbox and 12 games... sold it to my cousins... I never played my ps2 when i got my pc, hell i dont even play my ps3, i payed for half of it but my brother plays it, and he payed for the hard-drive and the external enclosure for the normal 60 GB one... If i do play its guitar hero or rockband or some sort of need for speed.
Ok it works like this. US 60 and 20 GB versions have both the EE chip and GPU of the old PS2. BC is 98% of PS2 games. The US 80 and Euro 60 GB versions do NOT have the EE chip, but do have the GPU. BC is 90% of games. The 40 GB version does not have either chip and will not do BC. Game lists for BC US: http://www.us.playstation.com/Support/CompatibleStatus Euro: http://faq.eu.playstation.com/bc
I had the USA 60gb for a while. wasn't really impressed by the backwards compatability. PS3 games are meant to be played on a ps2 on an SD CRT. That way, games like kingdom hearts don't look like dogturd.
