Motors mot question

    my car is up for mot next week but i have broken one my alloys and there no way i could afford get it fixed or replaced in time, will the car pass with a spare tyre on its not the space saver tyre but proper full size tyre

    as long as it is a full sized spare the same size and rating as the one on the opposite side of the same axle it will pass. make sure its not a directional tyre on it cause it would even fail if it was mounted in the wrong direction.

    Would you not have to have the spare in the boot for it to pass too?

    na, they took that out a couple of years ago

    that's how lotus gets way with having no space for a spare:)

    And also how cars that have the LPG Conversion and a can of spray in the tyre repair foam get away with it.

    Same as reverse lights not working, they also are not a requirement of the MOT :)

    Yeah come to think of it theres a few motors that dont come with spares.

    I'm not certain, but my understanding is that you don't have to have a spare, but if you do it has to be up to standard.

    As such use the spare in place of the broken alloy, which should be left at home.

    if i remember right 1 reverse light had to work, also be careful on your indicators, the coloring flakes off the bulbs over time and if the tester wants to nit pick they can fail them if they are not a decent shade of amber.

    I watch most of my MoT's. Never once seen the spare being checked.

    jsut checked my spare is slightly smaller in width they have be the same size

    so gonna borrow alloys of my bros car jsut for the test
