    I used Firefox a lot but then it kept effing up on me, so I downloaded Opera and its so slow and resource hungry I'm getting fed up with it;
so can anyone recommend a decent browser?

What's FF been doing? Is there a well-documented fix for it?

it keeps crashing on me and I couldn't be asked to try and sort it so I left it, but I will have a go with it and report my findings.
I think it was just a generic "this programme is not responding, send error report?" etc. etc.

6 months ago i would have said opera but the last few updates have , as you've said, fecked it right up. I would say its worth trrying to sort out FF.

Especially FF3 if you haven't tried that yet.

yeah I had FF3, I will give it a blast again.

    Edit/Update:
Happened once, closed FF, reopened, started a new session, happened again pretty much straight away.
I may try to download it again.

Make sure your profile has been deleted before you reinstall. Something in there might be the cause.

FF does that a LOT in my case as well... specially on the MS site, strangely enough... as a web developer, i normally go IE first, then FF. statistics show that on the sites i work on, 92.8% is IE and FF. 66% IE alone.

I've always found Lynx to be about the best there is, especially for all this new fangled web 2.0 business. :)

I had been running opera for the last couple of years after i got fed up with FF. A few weeks ago i downloaded K-Meleon to do some testing. It uses the same rendering engine as FF (Gecko) but i think its a hell of alot better. And im really surpised at how light it is. Usually i have 8-10 browser windows open with 5 or 6 tabs in each. In opera thats 300-400mb of memory usage where as in K-Meleon its using only 164mb as I type this. I may have just found something to replace Opera as my main browser. (I am missing speed dial a whole hell of alot tho)

If you are going to use Flock, you are likely to encounter similar problems, considering it basically a pimped version of Firefox (brilliant though, using it right now, and love it).

As Flibblebot said, delete your old profile.

Windows 3.1. Now we're talking. That was an OS! Never even bothered with Windows 95. Used 3.1 until Windows 98 came out, and I built a new PC.

Nostalgia - nothing like it (even if it is a thing of the past:lol:)

FF 3 has been buggy here and there for me as well. If it really bothers you that much, go back to FF 2.14 until the next update for 3 comes out.

Havn't had any really problems with FF3 tbh and so recommend it. But then, I don't use many addons so...

Intersting how wildly different browser stats are on different sites:

ok it is impossible that Konqueror and the rest is 0. That means that the dev's don't even use it.
These stats are from their web site probably, same for the BentAnat
