I'm looking to ditch my two once-high-end-super-dinosaurs for a single card in single-slot cooled flavour. I'm now only running 1280x1024, although 1680x1050 looks likely in the near future. Anyone got any suggestions as to what would be suitable? I'm currently tilting toward a 4850, but I'm unsure of what performance increase to expect. Other suggestions much appreciated. Thanks
I've been a Nvidia fan since the GeForce3 and dumped my years of dedication for a 4870. The 9800s and 200s were way less than I expected. The only game that has a few hickups with the 4870 is Crysis but it's Crysis.
Thanks for the fast responses guys. Looks like it'll be a 4850 afterall. I am definitely looking to sell the GTXs - one Gainward Golden Sample as reviewed by Bit-tech and one Inno3d, completely stock. Is there a selling procedure for bit-tech? If not, hit me up with a PM. Thanks guys
im pretty sure there is a selling forum, but unless you post over a certain amount you cant see it :/ its to stop scammers
Well I might hold off until next month. http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/149698/amd_aims_highend_graphics_cards_at_nvidia.html
Will the X2s be single slot though? (thanks for the link, btw. I didn't know there was going to be a 4850X2)
Gotta love the inq.. that place is insane. I love the way Charlie is completely anti-Nvidia and all his articles get flamed to hell.
Well crap, I figured the 4850x2 would be single slot. I checked out the old 3850x2 and it isn't single slot so i assume the 4850x2 will be double. If you're in no hurry, I'd just wait until official pictures hit the net.
