The thing is, you'll still try and insert it and it'll refuse to go in, so you'll try the other way anyway, before turning it rightside up again where it magically goes in.
As long as it goes in eventually - my brother's computer has 5 (of 6) broken USB ports because it did not go magically in when the kids tried...
I'll be honest. The second I saw that I grabbed my flash drive and wrote top on the top side. Best mod ever!
I just did it as a joke (a very practical, that is) but I am going to mark my USB cables with a red spot!
On a quick check of my cables, the three-pronged USB symbol is always on the "top" side or the "right" side on my vertical case ports, it's also the "seamless" side on all connectors including pen-drives and USB Card Readers.
Yes, I actually checked myself - hopefully I'll remember it this time. But it still would've been easier if the innards were symmetrical.
Joke or not I know some people for whom this would be no bad idea. PS, my favourite usb drive: http://www.b3ta.com/board/6828402
^^^ that's what happens when you buy dell ^^^ All the drives that I own have a logo or something that tell you what way it goes in
Thanks for all the replies. Then you have to attach a "This way up" sticker to the side of your case.
No - My Silverstone LC11M media center case has the motherboard installed upside down, so all the rear USB ports are upside down. And for some reason they decided to match the upsidedownness of the rear USB ports by putting the front case ports upside down too!
