I'm thinking to buy a Sapphire 4850 with stock cooler just because it's available. I'd really like to buy the toxic version, but nobody seems to be able to keep it on the shelf. If i buy the stock version and want to overclock it, how difficult is it to change out the coolers? Is it just a matter of a removing few screws to get the casing and cooler off and then apply the new cooler? or is it more complicated? Can anybody recommend a good aftermarket GPU cooler? Can I use my old CPU cooler on my GPU? Thanks, Phil
your cpu cooler wont work. they dont mount the same way. Its not hard to replace the stock one, just unscrew, apply paste and pu the new one on.
Why don't you go for the Sapphire HD4850 with a DUAL SLOT cooler. It amazingly costs the same as the stock HD 4850 but runs much cooler and overclocks to the same speed as the Sapphire toxic 4850
Thermaltake DuOrb, looks awesome and dropped over 20 degrees on the idle temps of my HD3870. (Closer to 30 on load temps.) http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Cooler/VGAnCHIPnMEM/CL-G0102/cl-g0102.asp
