I was cutting some lexan for my newest mod and I over-cut with the dremel plastic cutting wheel. It was an inside piece I was cutting out, so now there's a thin whole where I wish there was a clean 90 degree cut. So I beg of you fellow modders, what can I do to cover up my poor dremel skills? I don't want to cut another one as the first one took me quite a long time...I only messed up two of the four corners. This is going to be painted black, so I was thinking some sort of putty or something I could use to fill the gap?
Get a new piece of Lexan, and a proper jigsaw. J/K If it's going to be painted, you could just use some bondo and sand it smooth.
Cover it. Drill out holes on all the corners. Make a bigger hole. Get a new piece of lexan. fill it in with plexi glue.
I've read that like 5 times and i'm still not sure what it all means It sounds a bit like what Cheap said is crazy/nuts if you don't paint it? I'm confused just reading what i just wrote now...
it mean hes damn accurate, spot on, exactly right, holy effing $hit is that perfect. i think you get the idea
Ahhh, i get it now! I've actually heard that somewhere, probably some guy doing woodwork on tv, and when he's checking the length of his cut he's like: "dead nuts " That would be a cool thing to say when you're done doing the deed actually, the girls wouldn't know what the hell we're on about!
ok, thanks guys...I thought about re-cutting it but today my Dremel caught on fire while cutting another piece! So tomorrow a call to Dremel support....
botching up an over cut will leave you thinking Its there .... Its there and its spoiling the whole thing... this will nag at you. Eventually you will dismantle the whole set up and replace the over cut material with new material and you will have just spent a few weeks obsessing at how spoilt your finished project is due to a overcut ..& if dismantling your entire set up includes removing one or two of your components and placing them on your work bench only for your 11stone bloody Dogue De Bordeaux to knock off in one of their clumsy playful moments .. you'll be rather miffed .. trust me. <sigh>
