i just love CAT. Slick as well as stupid. hopefully in the new season CAT will get a girl once and for all.
Excellent, though it does now mean my collection of Red Dwarf episodes on dvd is once again incomplete. Series 8 was better than 7 but series3, 4 and 5 are the all time best.
Not sure I'm happy about this news. I was really disappointed with series 7 and 8. Wish they'd just left it at 6 tbh.
Guess Craig Charles must have run out of dosh too keep his crack pipe fuelled up then eh? Seriously tho the show is legendary, looking forward to it.
Ha ha, awesome! I still have the Can't Smeg, Won't Smeg cooking special on my PC, totally brilliant. I personally thought series 8 on second viewing held up quite well, and series 6 I personally think has some of the greatest moments (Four Gunmen of the Apocolypse for the smegging-win!) And bash series 7 as much as you like, it's all worth it for a) the Ace Rimmer super-intro sketch, and b) The Rimmer Song.
Holy crap! Watching it again recently on Dave has certainly renewed my interest in Red Dwarf after the disappointment of S8.
I think its quite novel to notice that the two best parts of series 7 were Rimmer related, and the high possibility that the rest of the season sucked due to Rimmer not being in it.
hrhr, likewise, along with the university challenge and the smeg ups. Series 7 and 8 where a bit of a let down tbh from the earlyer series, however the episode "Tikka To Ride" (S07E01 the JFK epidode) still holds dear to me. It was a great start to series 7, that just wen down hill from there on. Considering they have had many years to come up with some decent material for the new series, I can only hope they dont end up being on par or worse that the last 2 series. If I recall dint Red Dwarf blow up or was going to, from the acid that was eating away the ship, so rimmer ends up going to a mirrored universe to gain the reverse formula to the acid, but fails, so will be interesting to see where it goes, or if they end up in the 'Bug' again.
Much as I used to love it as a kid the last few series put me right off Red Dwarf. I think the killer for me was getting that 'new' completely unbelievable Kochanski in. If there's a Kochanski in it and she's not CP Grogan, I ain't watchin'! Caught a few of the later series' episodes on Dave recently and didn't even raise a smile So sad for something I was addicted to in my childhood.
Chloe Annett wasn't unbelievable at all - the most that CP Grogan ever said was when it was Rimmer! The later series really fleshed out the character <cough>, and made it much more believable.
Chloe Annett was pretty good, just nowhere near the mastery of CP Grogan. OTOH would she still have that magical and almost mystical appeal if she was in 2 series making a tit of herself? I love RD so much it hurts. I honestly think my DVD of series 1 will wear through soon - it's such a long time since I bought it!
From what I've read elsewhere, it's going to be 4 half hour shows. 1 "Making of the specials", the 2 specials, and a clip show.
