Bit of a downer for you and us, but keep it up, your case is awesome.

 

Damn man that really sucks. I am guessing the tap is stainless steel so it will be a real pain to drill out.

The boy 4rm oz, it's written SSH on it, I think it stands for stainless steel so yeah, it won't be easy....

 

its HSS which means "hochleistungs schnitt stahl" which means High solid cutting steel, or something like that, so youll better try to get it out somehow else, because the drill bit will slip into the way softer copper for sure

Haha, loving the German! Pretty helpfull for my schoolwork.

I wouldn't worry too much about speaking it there to be honest; they're very good english speakers, although they'll adore you if you try.

EDIT: Loving the mod as well, obviously.

 

HSS is a High Speed Steel. It is a kind of tool steel that can be used in a high speed machining application. But you have to be very careful. HSS is also very brittle because it is so hard. The hardness is so it can cut through materials like plain carbon and softer stainless steels all in one tool. Use plenty of oil and be very patient. Make sure your tap is not being pushed to the side wile you turn and try not to take more than a half a turn without clearing the chips. just remember to take it slow.

Keep up the good work Neophyte looks amazing. I will follow this one. I like pulling the DVD out of the case like that.

anyway, my dad helped me to remove the broken tap, but the hole were it was sitting was to big so I had to use M4 screws instead of M3 screws and that was realy great.
I don't think it would have been as good with m3 screws on it.

I'll probably have more time to work tomorrow, I still need to mill it to the right size.
BTW. does anybody know where I can get O-rings(or similar) that have a diameter of ~85mm and that are at least 3mm thick ?

I've been meaning to ask the same question. Where does one find non round O rings to fit rectangular shapes?

 

You just use normal O-rings of the required diameter and they can be used in rectangular places.
