I like Top Gear as much as the next man, and dislike unnecessary health and safety as much as the next man. However, Top Gear (and the various "stocking filler" dvds) do seem to do a lot of testing on public roads. It seems likely to me that at some point, whether through the presenters fault or another driver, there will be a crash on a public road (probably involving another driver). I think this would probably call safety of the whole testing on public roads and the "car vs. public transport race" thing into question.
Very true. My friends '09 C63 AMG sounds beautiful. And my other friends CL65AMG sounds even better... those bi-turbo's just add that extra bit of "whoosh" that just makes you melt. But I must say, the sound of a Ferrari's V8 is difficult to one-up too. Those high-revving engines that red-line at 9-10,000rpm have a totally different note than the growling AMG V8's and V12's. I love both. By the way... I'm surprised nobody has posted about Clarkson's head-on collision while filming the latest Top Gear episode, where he was hospitalized: Ref URL: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/13/clarkson-injured-in-head-on-crash-during-filming/
i fear too much clarkson....ok he's funny, but the original clarkson from early new top gear where his arrogance was a bit more subtle and less frequent was alot funnier...now he overdoes it and i think that dvd is a summation of it all!!! although still looks very amusing but still looking like it's staged....blatantly fireworks he was using and they blatantly wouldn't blow up a speedcamera....why not throw some thermite at it?
Some nice cars. But its still an extension of Top Gear, which is video of what's essentially a motor show with motion blur. NSX and Mazda 4-rotor rotary engines are contenders for exhaust note.
absolutely. he's funny in single-episode doses padded out by the other two. i don't know if i could stand a full DVD of just clarkson.
