Windows Live Writer is an excellent blogging app with plenty of plugins and support for pretty much any blogging service out there, so definitely worth a look at.

Step 1: Decide how much money you want to spend.

Step 2a: If your budget is $0, prepare to register with blogger/blogspot or wordpress.com.

Step 2b: If your budget is $70 per year or more, prepare to register one or more domain names, sign up for hosting, and download wordpress from wordpress.org

Step 3: Figure out your main theme and either register a domain or register a name on a free blog engine. Once you sign up with wordpress.com, you can start new blogs very easily in a matter of seconds.

Step 4: Once you have your main theme setup, start posting.

Step 5: Once you've started posting, try to keep up your pace and try to find ways to attract traffic. Why write at all if there's no audience.

Never saw a purpose in it.
Unless you are someone like Tim, Richard or any other part of the staff who actually like to write most of their day aside from all the testing and trolling the forums :p J/K
    Or some bigshot in politics.
    What's the point in it?
Jeez. Why should You/I/Whoever write about what we did that day? Like having an online diary. Never kept one anyway. Diary's are meant to be private if you have one right?
And most of the blogposts i have seen referenced are either:
    1. Dull. Like plastic plants. Really.
    2. Whiny. 110% Emo. And then some.
    3. Disturbing. Worse than Rotten, Tubgirl and 4chan.
    4. All of the above.

    So please. Stop Blogging.

I'd start with step 3, then step 4 and figure out if I could commit step 5. If you're still interested then go back to step 1.

Someone who doesnt know you wont read it, trust me, you would have to be damn good for someone who doesnt know you to bother with your blog, so in short, you need to have existing friends or noone reads it, but wait, if they are exisiting friends, you have better ways to communicate with them.

If you don't like blogs, don't read them. (Also, if your saying people shouldn't start blogs, how do people ever get to the stage where people might consider them established bloggers/journalists?)

    1. dye your hair black
    2. write bad poetry
    3. whine about dropping out of your vocational course because of the rampant commercialism in the world today and the bleakness of existence now your mum doesn't give you lifts anywhere
    4. profit

actually the main reason for starting a blog is to have an online diary/journal of my dissertation as it progresses. It's more for me (and anyone vaguely interested) and possibly a few of my tutors. From my perspective it gives me a chance to have access to my journal from wherever i am and keep a log of links online for wherever I am. So something simple is fine for me.

And my hair is already black, I'm a s*hite poet, and my course is a masters in marketing and advertising. Commercialism is my thing! And I got my own car so I drive myself everywhere! I do however punch said people with dyed hair, write sad/bad poetry, whine about the lameness of their skinny jeans and deserve a thorough kicking in the balls to let them know they should bloody well grow up.
