Using the Mac Pro at a PC-oriented review site? :nono:

Only thing my PC is used for is gaming, and not a whole lot there either. All of my actual work is done on a Mac Pro (and MBP on occasion, but less so since it just fails epically at syncing in a way that I'd find useful). Maybe if I started throwing my in-development sites in Dropbox... could be made to work I bet. Until it came to local databases anyways.

I'm a PC, I'm not too bothered about aesthetics. :worried:

Checked the front page recently? The modding-to-review ratio isn't what it was when we signed up in 2004.

Home: Mac (2 x iMac, MacBook, mbp, Linux Debian server)
    Work: Dell with Vista Business

While I have to use Vista and it's backward 100 click GUI, I still prefer a Mac with OS X.

Can anyone tell me a GOOD reason to own a mac?

I mean a good reason. Not something frivolous like "if u hit F11 all the windows go to the off side screen".

Because i worked with them both, and i can't say my ideas were better on a mac...

    PC at home
    PC at school
    Mac for music development

I'm on both sides, don't really have a preference, Mac has all the good software for music development, (ie logic studio), but PC's are just easier to access for me.

    want a MBP though

PC/Windows. If I ever wanted a Mac, it'd have to be one with an Intel chipset/cpu so that Vista could run on it. I'd never give up PC gaming. The trouble is that an equivalent PC, although perhaps being less 'ooh-shiney', is cheaper.

I suppose it's just if you want the aesthetic pleasure. Some people find windows horrible to use - I must admit, it's a hellhole of an operating system to install from scratch and configure. Macs are expensive, but some people just have a lot of money, and who are we to tell them how to spend it :p

Personally I hate the Mac pricing and lack of game range, but I'd like to own one if I could, just for surfing and such. In that regard, maybe an OSX Panther theme for Vista would be enough to placate me...

it's all about sheer usability - expose is best thing ever invented, preceded only by beer - it is really something that you use often, it allows you to easily transfer files between programs and do a lot of other useful stuff, instead of crippled drag and drop support in windows and constant mashing ctrl+c/ctrl+v. Spotlight is one of highlights of macosx - no windows thing can compare to that, smart folders - show all files you worked on and that meet certain conditions such as date opened, date modified, date created, size, type etc, you get spaces so up to 16 times more screen real estate. I think the strongest point of Mac is the advertised "it just works" thingy and it does work indeed.

Yes, and windows might "just work" if it was a ripoff of one of the most stable OPEN SOURCE OS' around....

Well, since OSx is ripped from Darwin, which is ripped from UNIX, which are both very closed source pieces of software (not to even mention the price of these dinosours), I think your argument is kind of... weak...

It's like calling BSD free and a Linux distro... :nono:

i try and avoid these kind of stupid discussions, but i have to point out how pathetic that first image is. since when is an iMac $4k, and is there some magical property of PCs that makes it impossible to coil the cords at the back nicely like they do on a mac?
