Im looking at getting a quad core for christmas, which of the above you buy? they can all be had for around the same price (about £20.00 in it)

Im comfortable with OCing but i wont want to be taking it further than 3ghz, i understand the 6700 has a 10x multi which could be helpful.

    All opinions welcome :)

Do they all have the same cache size? if so buy the cheapest, 3ghz isn't pushing any of them.

just noticed the Q8200 has 4MB compared to 8MB for the other two. Apparently tho there have been some core revisions for this model, anyone have experience?

    Q6600 has 8Mb (2Mb X 4) cache, and new G0 stepping almost guarantees 3GHz without added voltage (9X333).

Mine is happy at 7 X 430 at 1.27V after 100 instances of IBT.

yep i know the Q6600 G0 is a great processor. i suppose my question is would there be any reason to buy either of the over two over a Q6600?

The 8200 is only a dual core compared to the other two which are quads, so i'd discount that straight away if it's a quad you're after!

straight answer to a straight question, thanks :thumb:

If you look thats a Q8200 and not an E8200, its a new quad core chip

Yep, there is a quad core chip with the same serial number - it runs at 2.33GHz. The Q6600 has a clock speed of 2.4GHz, so its faster stock. AFAIK, the Q6600 overclocks *a lot* better than the Q8200. The Q6600 is the one to go for. Incidentally, mine arrived today :D. Looking forward to overclocking it.

I got a q6600 the other day, havent used it yet though, i have to wait for christmas before i get any other parts i need :(

I bought it based on the fact that peopel have been able to overclock it really easily, and as this will be my first time overclocking properly, i have made it easy for myself :)

The q6600 gets 3ghz easy, however make sure you choose a suitable motherboard otherwise it may be a bit of a struggle.
