Today I am starting a new build using a Thermaltake Sword M. The owner of this build will also be helping, he has a vision on how he wants it to look & I'm going to make that happen for him. The parts for the build will be. ASUS P5N72-T Premium Intel Q6600 6GB Corsair DDR2 1066 Memory 2xBFG 8800GTX OC2 2x Seagate 500GB sata HDD Raid 0 Asus Physic card Rosewill 850W PSU Thermaltake 450W Graphics SLI PSU DVD Burner BlueRay Burner Antec Veris Multimedia station Bitspower XPIII Fan Controler NZXT Sentry fan controler 2x XSPC X20 400 Rev A Water Pump/Reservoir Combo XSPC "Dual Bay-Res" Pump/Reservoir Combo 2x Cooler Master Hydra 8800 VGA Water Block 2x Koolance RAM-30-V06 Hydra-Pak Dual Ram Cooler Hardware Labs Black Ice GT Stealth 240 XFlow Radiator Swiftech Radiator - MCR220 Quiet Power Series Dual 120 mm - Black Feser Tube Active UV Hose 3/8 ID Koolance compression fittings 3x Thermaltake Flow TX Plus Flow Meter w/ Temperature Indicator 8x 120mm Fans New wheels for higher clearance Thermaltake CPU block & Thermaltake side door radiator that came with the case The goal of this build is to have a clean, Quite, cool running, one of a kind Rig. Now for some pictures of the case Test Full size Motherboard
That board looks so tiny in that case. Put a mini-itx board in there that runs as a dedicated server.
Physics Card? rly? i thought those died with the new software updates, but that's imo. Anyway that case is sick, and I cant wait to see some sketches!
The reason for the physics card is he already had it, the 8800 cards, memory, HDD & optical drives were from his old system, everything else is an upgrade. I changed the two 8800GTX cards over to water with the Cooler Master Hydra 8800 Blocks.
Is that case stock in the first pics? That's a pretty sweet case as is. (I like those doors!) Can't wait to see what you do with it.
The sword is a high-end case from thermaltake, there's not too many of them, that I've seen modded. For the two XSPC X20 400 Rev A Water Pump/Reservoir Combo, They will hang from the top, with some 1/8'' black plexiglass, a cardboard template was made to make sure the pumps fit. And then on to making the one from plexiglass. Some ideal as to were they sit. This picture will show the front bay drive cover, & the two pumps, a cardboard template really helps to get the right size & shape needed.
looks good so far... if ya want some more inspiration check out what the guys over at mnptech did to this case http://www.million-dollar-pc.com/systems-2008/thermaltake/swordm/phenom.htm looking forward to see how ths one turns out.....
Thanks for the link,, I have seen that build before, but most of the mods on this build, will be internal. The front drive bay cover will be one of the most important mods for this project,, as it will hide almost all the wires & give more options for fan & temp panels.
Thanks for stopping by, I did use my plastic level, it was good to me in till this sacrifice to make the bay cover,, I think of it as a learning venture,, never use a plastic level to bend plexiglass,, because it will bent too. but the panel turned out nice. Some pictures with all the drive bays full,, this only makes it harder to hide wires, but it will be done. for the back I/O panel Instead of cutting small slots for each card, a bigger opening was cut for better heat removal. the back I/O panel slide in the right side & the card screws lock the panel in.
Wow it looks very good! I like that 1 piece bay cover, sleek! plus with added instrumentation & controls, and cable/tubing mgment! Very cool... Nice plexi bend, I won't say anything about the level. I hope you plan on making a custom face plate as well, or otherwise doing something about all those different looking front panel items (dvd, etc...) It detracts from the simple beauty of the rest of the case. Don't mean simple in any negative way, here, btw. all in all, nice attention to detail to add to an already nice looking case!
WOW, I'm in love with that bent piece of black plexi looks very slick. Keep up the great work, your moving fast!
@ModMinded Thanks for the kind words,, but I'm building this for a customer & this is what he wants for the front,, when all lit up & running it looks good. @popotheflyingpanda Thanks you,, this project took about 5 months, just finishing it up now. I wish thermaltake put a different rad on the sword door,, but they can't get everything right, this rig is just about done, so here's some UPDATED Photos,, Please enjoy.
Please please please please please, swap out the Thermaltake CPU block for basically ANYTHING else. They are bad at cooling, and nutorius for craking and killing your system.
@wbdog206 Thanks you,, There's allot of talent here at bit-tech, I'm just happy to see you like my creations. I hope to bring more mods in the future. @Mankz. I trust what you are saying is true, does it crack after long use or right away, I've also read about the Koolance RAM-30-V06 Hydra-Pak being bad for leaks & the bags ripping on builds, but I had no trouble with them,, The Thermaltake Flow Meter w/ Temperature Indicator, read 27c, should the temps be lower then that for the cpu, the highest temp is coming from the two 8800gtx cards @29c. Also if you could show me some CPU block you know to be good. Thanks again for you visit & info.
