I seem to have been trapped in side with some really wet weather of late, so when there was a break in the clouds I rushed out to take some night shots of the Forth Rail Bridge. Now unfortunately I really have no idea how to meter for conditions when my camera tells me it needs more than 30 seconds but won’t tell me how many seconds it needs. So after working out how to use the bulb setting with the remote, in the dark, in the freezing wind on a pier, I guessed. All C&C welcome how should I be getting correct exposures in these situations? oh and how do you pick the right white ballance? 1. 2. 3. 4.
/erection! Urban Night shots does it for me! Some of them seem a bit blurry, but nothing thats too bad!
Guesswork/stopwatch is the only real way to work out bulb exposures unfortunately. As for white balance I always leave it on auto and then change it during post-processing if I feel its needed.
In theory I suppose they should be the same as any other HDR shot. however I seem to be rubbish at actually getting HDR to work. shot 4 is a sort of HDR shot combining two exposures. but at the end of it I was struggling to spot any differences.
First one caught my attention, greatly composed and the lighting is very pleasing. Great work, keep at it!
Good work on catching the reflections on the first one. It really lifts the shot with "more" in the shot.
