As long as they get halfway decent actors and don't change the story much it could work.

brendan fraser was hilarious on graham norton.

wouldnt a "driver" film with jason stratham just be like "the transporter" or one of its sequels seeing as he doesn't really get out of the car in those he's just like the game anyway.

splinter cell would probably work really well actually, there are splinter cell books (not written by clancy) too so they could use those to pad it out a bit.

roryok, Clock Tower is a horror game type thing. So I assume thats what the movie would be like. In other words, it'll suck.

Hopefully MGS is good. Get Hideo involved to make it epically long. 10 hour movie!!

As long as its all animated like the in game cinematics, it might have a chance of being approved by the gamers

It seems I'm one of the only ones excited for some of these; I can't wait to see Bioshock and Prince of Persia. I mean, ok I really don't like many of the other games as games anyways so I won't say that I don't like the movie for that reason, but I kinda like it when games get turned into movies, as long as they're done well, I really enjoyed both Silent Hill and Hitman.

Guess the Warcraft movie's dead then. :sigh:

It was supposed to be out in 2009, done in the same CG as the intro movies to the game and written by one of the key people at Blizzard. That was going to be pretty awesome.

But 2011? It means someone essentially canned it. :wallbash:

    Here we go...

    Cold Fear (2008)
Never heard of the game. That doesn't bode well...

    Fear Effect (2008)
Fear Effect? Perhaps something to do with F.E.A.R? Who knows...

    Area 51 (2009)
'cause FPS' convert SOO well into movies. Doom wasn't bad enough for them?

    Castlevania (2009)
Potential. But who knows just what kind of mess they're going to make from it.

    Clock Tower (2009)
    Who?

    Halo (2009)
With Peter Jackson helming this one, I think it's going to be a sure thing. But with Bungie's famous attention to detail, I doubt even Uwe Boll could mess this one up too badly.

    Kane & Lynch (2009)
Interesting. Another bank robbery movie, then.

    The Legend of Spyro (2009)
Definately a kiddie show. Probably direct-to-DVD too.

    Metal Gear Solid (2009)
The MGS series have been getting pretty bad in the cinematic:gameplay ratio. Almost as bad as Final Fantasy. So if the game's already mostly cinematic, why not go the whole hog and cut that pesky game play out altogether?

    Onimusha (2009)
Who? Would this be Oni, again by Bungie? That was a great game, and had much potential. I can see it working as a movie, but only if given the right treatment. Which means, if Hollywood's got this one, it'll suck, bigtime.

    Sabotage 1943 (2009)
    Who?

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009)
More gratuitous boob shots that Tomb Raider? Where do I sign?

    Spy Hunter (2009)
Which version? The arcade game (Which wasn't bad, in an 8-bit kinda way) or the XBox remake (Which blew goats)? Either way, I can't see this one making the transition well.

    The Suffering (2009)
    Who?

    Tekken (2009
Not another fighting game movie!? Didn't they learn from Mortal Kombat: The Movie, or Street Fighter: The Movie?

    Warcraft (2009)
3 hours of "LFG 10-Man Raid!"

    Bioshock (2010)
Much potential here. The plot and execution of the game were rock solid, and the whole thing had an almost cinematic feel anyways. Get the crew from "City of Ember" in, and we have 100% win potential.

Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars (2010)
Again, a lot of potential here. The Broken Sword games bring back fond memories for me, similar to some of the Lucas Arts games of the same era (Monkey Island, anyone?). And while the twisted humour of those games wouldn't convert so well, I think BS would.

    Driver (2010)
How very Meta. A Movie, based on a game, based on a Movie. And thus the circle of Hollywood suckitude is complete.

    Earthworm Jim (2010)
How? Only a cartoon could really do this justice, and did. So how?

    Gears of War (2010)
Again, potential. Possibly even potential if handed to Hollywood. But please, let someone who knows what they're doing take this one, and shoot it in Pinewood. :)

    God of War (2010)
To cash in on the whole "Ancient Legend Retold For Your Viewing Pleasure" (300, Troy, Gladiator, Beowulf), and to mix it with a video game cash-in? Hollywood execs see win, I see lose.

    Joust (2010)
Is this the one on horses, or the one in planes? Either way, I see suckitude.

    King of Fighters (2010)
No, they didn't learn from the other Fighting Game movies, which all sucked. Speaking of which...

    Mortal Kombat (2010)
Didn't they already try this? Didn't it flop massively?

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010)
I can see potential here, though I think when they complete the Assassin's Creed game series, someone should really pick that up, as it has a lot more potential than this.

    Resident Evil 4 (2010)
Movie based on game, part the 30th. And let's hope they don't pick up Umbrella Chronicles, 'cause that combination (Movie based on game based on movie based on game) will cause massive head explosions all round, I think.

    Splinter Cell (2010)
Movie based on game based on book. An interesting twist. Not sure the plotline of this game was strong enough, however.

    World of Warcraft (2011)
    Yeah. No.

And didn't someone mention Second Life had been optioned? More suckitude right there.

Funny to hear of this as I just had a talk with a mate over a God of War movie. The only guy we could come up with would be Vin Deasel as Kratos. Its a good story so it could work

my problem with this list is that most of these already have great storylines and these hollywood...people... you call them, write up retarded scripts stick a pair of knockers that can't act as the lead role. The past tomb raider movies and res evils do you think they would do as well if they were released with a different name.

    yes.
    Clock Tower (2009)
    Kane & Lynch (2009)
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010)
    God of War (2010) if it's a la 300
Warcraft (2009) (unless wholly made by bilzzard, then hell yes)

    maybe
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009) only if it's animated like alpa.

    no.
    Cold Fear (2008)
    Fear Effect (2008)
    Area 51 (2009)
    Castlevania (2009)
    Halo (2009)
    Onimusha (2009)
    Sabotage 1943 (2009)
    Spy Hunter (2009)
    The Suffering (2009)
    Tekken (2009
    Bioshock (2010)
Broken Sword: The Shadow of the Templars (2010)
    Driver (2010)
    Earthworm Jim (2010)
    Gears of War (2010)
    Joust (2010)

    Splinter Cell (2010)

    hell no.
Resident Evil 4 (2010) (had three of them already, they sucked.)
    Mortal Kombat (2010)(see above)
King of Fighters (2010)(read: street fighter: the movie and I like KOF)
    Tekken (2009)(see above)
World of Warcraft (2011) (wait, wait, wait, a movie based on "World Of...")
Metal Gear Solid (2009) (if you want a moviejust patch together the cut scenes)

    but...

    but but but
Where is Mass Effect? I thought it was even better (and more cinematic/dramatic) than everyones beloved Bioshock.
And of course, where is Interstate 76'? j/k
Although now that I think about it, I76 with the likes of Sam Jackson and Owen Wilson might actually make such an over the top, bizzaro, warp fest that'd be worth wasting 2 hours for lol

All I can say is that if you don't like the cutscenes, you're an idiot. :)

It's what makes MGS what it is, it's a proper game, with a proper storyline, period.

And Bioshock the movie? Wow, that could be something.
