    Hi guys,

I wanted to post up my progress to gain a little encouragement and possibly get some good ideas from you all. I started building a MAME cabinet 1 week ago, cos I was stuck at home from work cos I caught the flu. Anyways, here are some progress pics, along with prices (AuD) and where I got the gear from.

    24 inch LCD monitor - - $320

Logitech sound system - Harvey Norman - $270
    [IMG]

    Fluoro light tube - Bunnings - $30
    [IMG]

Exhaust fan for kitchen or bathroom - Bunnings - $26
    [IMG]

    Cabinet, made out of pine sheets from Bunnings - 1829mm x 609mm x 17.5mm - $35 each

    From behind
    [IMG]

A view of the bottom of the control panel, once removed from the cabinet - you can see the right angle rods that hold it into place
    [IMG]

A view into the cabinet with the control panel removed

Again, but from behind through the doorway
    [IMG]

The sub in place - the holes were cut with a jigsaw, so not so circular, but it shouldn't be visible later because I'm going to put a ring thing around the edges of it - I can't tolerate viewing such imperfect circles :)

    The ventilation fan

    The setup thus far:

    Where the marquee will go

    Things I'm buying from here:
    http://www.ozstick.com.au/
    include:
    I-PAC-4 Keyboard encoder
    [IMG]

    These illuminated buttons
    [IMG]
I'm getting (from left to right on the control panel) 4 yellow for player 3, 8 red for player 1, 8 blue for player 2, 4 green for player 4

And these rectangular illuminated buttons, 1 of each colour, for the "player 1 start" and "player 2 start" etc
    [IMG]

I'm getting 4 of these Sanwa joysticks
    [IMG]
with the bat design, not the ball one. And getting them in black
    [IMG]

I'm not going to bother with the coin mechanism, will just use this button instead to simulate a coin drop
    [IMG]

So there we go guys, my progress in the last week. The reason I joined up to these forums was because I saw a great thread by Abom, as seen here:
    http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=99144
I really like the artwork that he has done:

I love that artwork and must admit to being very envious of those buttons :)

    Cheers,
    Matt.

I'm not going to have graphics on my cabinet, just a nice natural pine look...

Mods, I didn't realise that I've posted this in *probably* the wrong section - could you please move this thread to the "Project Logs" forum?

    I've got an old pc - P4 , 2.4GHz
it makes an unhealthy kinda sound when the hard drive is spinning, so I'll buy a new HDD for it

I'm not sure how much RAM it has, RAM is so cheap nowadays that maybe I'll increase the RAM while I'm at it

And I gotta buy a LCD friendly light gun for Time Crisis - any recommendations?

Hey guys, here are some 99% completed pics
I intend to eventually get a marquee created for the top, for now there's a fluoro tube sitting in there
