I'm going to be building my own work area soon. I've decided that I lose so many things because I work all over the place, I need a place to settle down. My dad has a kitchen counter top he doesn't have a use for, so I'm going to take it over and see where that goes. So.... where do you work? This is where I was working in the summer, but as I moved to college my parents have converted the room into storage.
Been to Harbor Freight have we? I have 2 of those heat guns! Seems like they are on sale everytime I misplace mine. john
lol, yes, John... been to Harbor Freight. Got some tin snips, clamps and said cheapo heat gun that works great. Oh, and a vice too.
PS90000, what are you making in that 2nd pic? Is that a DIY CNC machine in the works? Nice one Scirocco! I have 2 work areas: Garage: Steadily improving and cleaning it up. Dinette: (Thought I had other pics of this area, but these are the only ones I could find on photobucket)
Yes it is. I tried to use a bed frame to make the uprights, but they simply aren't strong enough. Trying to find some cheap 80/20 aluminum at the moment, but we'll see. Looking for some other stepper motors as well. I still have to put about $200 into it. The nut on the base that's there is worth $500 (supposedly). I can't imagine that complete assembly is. I don't have ready access to heavy machinery though, so it's gonna be a little difficult to configure everything. Soon though!
Yeah, It's my dream (one of em) to homebuild a cnc machine, so let me know if you find any good resources for plans. PS- Have you seen the ultimate workshop thread?
http://www.cnczone.com/ That's a good forum, lots of information for all sorts of CNC machines (depending on what you want to build- metal or wood). Lots of activity as well. I actually put a wanted ad on craigslist, got an email from a guy and I went out to his house. He has a whole bunch of machinist stuff. I believe he got it from some sort of auction, and gave me a great deal on all the stuff. I saw that thread after I posted this one. It actually sent me on a Craigslist binge trying to find all the tools that I could. Haven't found anything yet though....
Great thread! This is Mnpctech's workspace. A warehouse studio in Minneapolis, Minnesota (states) I can be found there on occasion working at night on custom computer cases for my customers. My son in the corner of my workshop watching Star Wars.. Ghost Rider Wall PC Past and current projects.. The cool shelves are from Genuine Hotrod Hardware On weekends I tinker on things besides computers and cases, like this RC Truck Frig, Tunes, Microwave, Dragster photograph was given to me by my friends
Hey Bill, Wondered if you'd drop in. I really like your space (hope you have good heaters up there ) Lots of room and plenty of proper gadgets! What happened to that special worktable cover? I remember seeing the vid, but don't see it pictured above? PS90000, Thanks for the links for cnczone... bookmarked! Lol at craigslist binge after reading the ultimate workshop thread. Similar thing happened to me! If you check out my project log, you'll see I've been on a tool adding rampage... some through craigslist and some through freecycle.
