yup - i have one. can't fault it really. Performance-wise, it kicks the crap out of my old WD 2500JS, (250GB, 16MB cache) and boots windows a good three or four seconds faster than before, and sound-wise, it is silent. I can only hear it clicking a little bit when streaming off it to another PC whilst using it simultaneously locally. Otherwise, its is just silent.

I no longer need help on my choice of drive, but thanks anyway. Here is my newest question:

Well i've got the 2 seagates installed and running now, all seems good.
But I can hear them constantly clicking away in the background, even if i'm not writing/reading anything to/from them ?

(I dont think it sounds like unhealthy clicking, but I can't be sure)

    I'm running Vista64

I believe that's just Vista doing its thing, no big deal really. It indexes all the files on your drive so that when you search, results come up almost instantly.

yeah, it's just vista. surprised me when i first put vista on, seems to constantly be doing something in the background. it used to piss me off, but i've gotten used to it now.

    More space!

So what is the biggest drive atm?
It seems drive development is slow! Been over a year since jump from 1 to 1.5Tb , ive entirely run out of space again and HATE having mutiple drives.

Currently have 5x 1tb seagates and 1x 1.5tb , as it is i end up with duplicates and wasted space.

    Media

It's for all my "legit" series/dvd iso backups etc...

It's basickly in a media server i have built up, also helps when i need to make backups of pc's and all, so space actually goes really quickly!

Ive been buying a drive every second month to keep up with my needs and just found them growing too slowly, ie small jumps.

I was expecting a 5Tb by now :geek:

i've been using the samsung spinpoints for years now & they've not let me down so far - the F1 drives are better still - fast quiet & cool - nice :thumb:
