Notebooks Acer Aspire One Ram?

any ideas?
I've seen one on ebay with 2gb of ram but some site mentioned a max of 1.5? also what ram as a youtube guy posted a upgrade using pc5300 IIRC and the american site that previously mentioned the 1.5gb limitation said that it used 4200? which is it. I know that the ram might be able to run at 4200 but if you can buy 4200 as easy i imagine it'd be cheaper right?

so can I whack say and extra 2gb with either the 512mb/1gb in there or am i limited to half a gig or say 2gb total?

Don't know if this would help at all, but have a look at this site: Orca Logic and use the Memory finder, it should tell you exactly what you need.

Perhaps the seller means it's got a 2GB kit in it, even though it won't be able to use it all? The specs say it's possible to use 1.5GB.

 

cheers guys.might play it safe and just get a 1gb one for the extra 20notes then not have to open it... saying that i was gonna swap a 200gb hdd so IDK:\

 

hmm am i right in thinking the 1gb has a longer battery life... also info on ram...

 

well does the 1gb have a 6cell battery apposed to a 3 cell i mean

 

I just tried a 2 gig stick and it wouldn't post. So i guess a 1 gig stick will have to do.

 

unless you know the model number, it's impossible to tell. there are 1GB/6-cell and 1GB/3-cell combinations.

 

Successful 2gb Aspire One install

Okay, so I read this post, ordered the Crucial 2gb 5300 and updated the bios to version 22. I actually did an Aspire One chat customer support and asked to update the BIOS. They gave me the link to do it and there is record of the chat so no worries about voiding the warranty (will have to replace RAM back in though, if I need to mail it in).

I have had it in for an hour now and am loving how much faster it is. Really amazing. It does run a good bit hotter.
