Hehe i remember your post on chilled xD

I'm certainly looking rather seriously at making a cube like yours. - And getting rid of my A05, because tbh the a05 is a fun case but If i make my own I can get everything the way I want it.

Today I worked on front panel so here's a 1 hour work result - all lines ready to be cut up:)

Also I received few things from Tom from Chilled PC.
Everyone remember my plan for front panel and this ring a'la Crysis logo?

    Well, here it is...

This is black hex mesh I'm gonna use under the ring, take a look on Crysis logo you will see it has hex shapes in the center....

    So here's the mesh...

    here's the red ring...

    and here's the metal ring...

    All these three parts....

    ...will create....

    Something like THIS !

    That's all for now..
On Monday will show you a lt of other stuff I made lately, like top panel, almost ready.. and after I cut front one, I will be able to show you whole cube, acrylic parts all-in-one:)

Yesterday I've received the same mesh, in the same colour :)
Look great, and it's a pleasure to see how you play with this mesh!

Thanks guys - wait till I install leds behind it and make it all shine nicely in rad wth those small triangles on top! :)

Heres time for small update today.

These are another pieces that will be used in cube. 8cm long 4 led strip to light up biohazard logos on both sides...

I already installed chrome led holders in it...
And heres 25cm long 12 led strip to light up top level of the cube - it will be installed top rear:

    Heres the whole battery:)

Now this part I already mentioned before, but now it finished. This is rear card holder.
Here's a simple construction I chose to keep cards in place - two red acrylic strips pressing card back plates between:

...and with alu piece taped with chrome...

Just forgot to mention before - don't worry that all things look dusty and have a lot of finger printes - at the end I will clean them all up with some acrylic cleanser or sth...:)

    Thanks guys!

Well, a lot of small things need to be done... its killing me that I dont have time to do them.
    Lets see...

    • worst part - solder all those leds for all lights inside (2x biohazard, 1x 12 led stand) - DONE
    • make mounting frames for those led stand-strips
    • cut out front panel, file and polish - DONE
    • finish polishing top panel - DONE
    • buy and mount slim dvd on top - thats make a mount frame
    • finish front ring construction, thats leds, triangles mounting frame.
    • glue those phinix signs to clear strips and mount them - DONE
    • glue biohazard logos on both panels
    • drill lots of holes on both panels, especially the left one for radiator exaust
    • also thinking of moving the whole case up a bit, adding some acrylic rings to feet
    • whole components and water cooling system installation - that at the end after clear acrylic cube photo shoot night out:)

    ...lets say... 2 years? :D:jawdrop::wallbash::hehe::duh::lol:

Very nice work m8! All the details are looking sharp. You managed to get the holes perfectly lined up which is quite difficult. Good job!

Thank you thank you thank you ...:)

Time for next update - I must be on fire! ;)

Yesterday I sit down and made those phinix signs frames - again - used super glue - this time it was last time I used this piece of cr***. For next acrylic things I will be using some nice truly transparent glue for acrylic only... It doesnt look bad, just there are some marks on other side of clear strips... I can live with this anyway...

Top one is just a tamplate, lower is being glued:)

Looks ok, mind the blue-ish tape on other side, acrylic is clear...

As I already folded whole cube I cannot show you guys everything, cause its waiting for finished front panel and ring of course:) But here you can see mounted signs on both sides.. a bit blurry photo but still...

I think I haven't showed finished top panel yet.. so here it is:

Today I took advantage on last black acrylic sheet... front panel:)
Here's a center circle being drilled to make space for all leds and stuff behind main front ring...

...and here's after playing with dremel for 30 minutes...:)

    That's all for today..

    STAY TUNED !!!

    Thank you guys!

I need help here - what is best glue for acrylic that won't leave marks after it dries out and is transparent...? I saw many people using some glue in a syringe - is that the best one?
After I used super glue when it dried up it looks like semi white stains between acrylic layers:wallbash:.. what can I use to have clear view??? :waah:

i wouldnt recommend it... if your melting acrylic your chances of burning it are pretty high

You can melt it together...with solvent glue.:p
I feel I must correct your checklist. The worst part will not be soldering the LED wires, It will be hiding them!
Lettering looks great. Your work is improving, but I fear I will die of old age before you finish.:D

    Phinix

I must say you inspire me on my next acrylic cube scratch build. It really informative. Hope you do not mind I borrow some ideas from you.

Btw need some input from you :~
    - what hole size is the brass screw threads before I use the solder tip to push it in ?
    - what thickness are you using for the side panels ? 3mm ?
    - what thinkness are you using for the structure tube support ? 10mm ?
    - I measured up all peripherals including upcoming water system for later implementation which comes to 400mm, I am trying to get it all size down at the moment before I commence building.
