Found this tiny guy on my monitor this morning, figured he was due for a photo op :)
I also experimented with some artificial light as well--seeing as how I covet natural light this was the first time using flash with macro. Whacha' guys think?

    Nice pictures. :)

I think the light is a bit too harsh, though. and the last one could use some cropping at the top to emphasize the height of the object.

Having that said, I love the last one. It's so cute! :)

I can assure you the lighting of the actual scene was very close to the results I got using the flash, In fact I thought the same thing when reviewing the images on the LCD and noticed it's more so the cork that seems to replicate a hot exposure. As for the last image, the shot is cropped for a better composition (since the spider had been dead center in the frame). The original had a lot more head room, but I felt id didn't add to the feeling of the subject being up any higher. If you would like I'd gladly post the actual shot. I hope that doesn't come off as a defensive rant--I just felt I'd toss some explanation into why the shots are as they are :)

All in all thank you, guys.

I love how in #4, the spider is looking down, to me it adds a lot to the sense of how small the spider is :D

    Sigma 150?

And how on earth did you get the spider to pose in different places? How big was it?

    Yup.
For the most part he had free range, every once in a while he'd make a break for it and I'd simply rotate the cork. For the plant 'set', when he tried to hide on me I'd manipulate him with a blade of grass.
    He was just under 1/4"
