Hi, I was going to get a 1/4" tap from eBay when I noticed it wouldn't be that easy to just get one but they seem to have 18, 20 or 28 "tpi" (Teeth per inch?)

I just want to know wich is the standard "tpi" used for fittings when watercooling, every fitting is just specified as 1/4" so any help would be nice.

    Thanks. /nismo

A 1/4" BSPP thread will have 19 threads per inch ( a pitch of 1.337mm :p). I think WC fittings (G1/4") should be BSPP.

    IIRC, it's an 11.6mm pilot hole (7/16"?).

I've a 1/4" bsp and it requires an 11.8 pilot... I'm sure it makes little difference.

Thanks for all the answrs but I still don't really know what to buy I can't find any with G1/4" or 19tpi.

Would a tap like this for example work?

    http://tinyurl.com/d2junb (1/4 - 20 Tap)

    The ones I find is:
    1/4 - 18
    1/4 - 20
    1/4 - 28

So wich one is it? I'm lost:lol:

You should check out Paul's Thread and barbs guide on coolercases.co.uk, should have the answer to this and any other questions you have about W/C thread sizes :)
