Hi, I am looking for an external PSU that is approximately 80Watts with the following spec: +5 (~5Amps) +12 (~4Amps) -12 (~0.5Amps) I have google-ed, but there are lots of different suppliers - many without a price on their website. All very confusing. Just wondering if anyone has one knows of a good site I can buy them from (cheaply) in the UK. Or has purchased similar before. It would need to be approx. £30 or less to make economic sense, as I could mod an ATX power supply to external for around that price. Thanks in advance
So are you planning on getting something that switches between the +12, +5 & -12 via a manual switch or did you want three simultaneous outputs?
You could try something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Colors-300W-Micro-Power-Supply/dp/B000O36ZWK for £17 EDIT: Wait, what mods are required to make an ATX supply external? Green wire to black wire is not really a mod. Are you looking for a bench supply? If so, you won't find a decent one for under £150. If you just want something to power basic circuits with, go with the ATX - I've been running a 150W AT supply on my bench for a good 8 years now, and it hasn't failed me yet. My $450 adjustable voltage constant current duel channel bench supply barely gets touched unless I'm playing with switching circuits or Luxeon LEDs.
sounds like an industrial PC power supply. If you were in the US, I would say check out Weird Stuff. But I have no idea for the UK.
