    For the GPU you can use a 6 pin to 8 pin pci-e adaptor, many cards come with the adaptor in the box. N.B. I have heard that using a 6 pin to 8 pin adaptor might not allow you to overclock the graphics card.

    It's a XFX GTX 260.

    I think it's because of the 4+4 12V power cable.. which doesn't fit on my mobo...

    But what should I do?

    Re the Coolermaster you linked to at scan.co.uk, is that your exact model, as the spec states that it has 2 x 8 pin PCI-E connectors not 2 x 6 pin as per your post. Also what happens when you attempt to put the 4+4 pin 12v EPS into the 8 pin EPS? Some pictures would be helpful.

    scan.co.uk has the specs wrong for your PSU, it is 2 x 6 pin as per your post, I checked the Coolermaster site!!

    It doesn't fit.

    There's 2 pin shapes: Square and circle - they don't go together...

    Yes the scan specs are wrong...

    theres no HDMI cable in my gfx...

    And now I dunno if it supports SLi or not.. Scan says no.. CM say yes... I only see 2 6pins on the psu...

    Yes, I have heard that some 4+4 pin 12v CPU, have different shapes to a 8 pin 12v, but it should fit. However given the cost of your parts, a quick e-mail to Gigabyte support to clarify the matter would be best! Concerning your GPU, if it requires an 8 pin, then using an 6 to 8 pin PCI-E adaptor may not supply enough power, as the 6 pin = 75 watts and 8 pin = 150 watts.

    The new 55nm 260s only require 2 x 6pin.

    Newbie on Bit-Tech Forums, but just built my own i7 rig with same MoBo X58 UD5 from Gigabyte and using a 620w Enermax from my old P4D system and work fine with XFX GTX 260 Black Edition Graphics Card and the X58 MoBo. Just connected the 2x 4pin connectors together and pluged in first time no messing, as for the PCI-E the PSU has modular connectors and just took the 2 leads out of the cable bag and plugged in no probs, and this is a PSU that is 2 years old.

    If you cannot connect the 2 x 4pin 12v connectors make sure that they are fixed together correctly with the latch clips together other wise the locating shapes on the plug and socket wont match.

    New rig is:-

    i7 920 @ 2.7Ghz:rock::rock:
    6 Gig Corsair XMS 1600Mhz (3 x 2Gig Stix)
    Gigabyte X58 UD5 Motherboard:rock::rock::rock:
    XFX GTX260 Black Edition GFX Card:thumb::thumb:
    500GB HDD
    LG DVD RW
    Enermax 620w Liberty PSU
    Antec 900 case
    19" Hanns-G
    42" Phillips LCD 1080P screen
    Full 7.1 Surround Sound with Onkyo TX-SR606 A/V amp and abt 800 GBP worth of speakers to boot the sound out

    And it rocks like nothing :rock::rock::rock:

    I called Gigabyte today - they said just connect ONE of the 4 pins.

    It works fine now.

    Just a 4 pin on a core I7 seems too little, but I checked the Intel site and it is on spec. Though I would hold off overclocking until one of the Bit-Tech staff can confirm, if an 8 pin 12v cpu connection, is required for the higher OC power draw.
    What about your graphics card situation?

    I had the same issue with the member who made this thread and his problem got resolved when he put in the 8 pin CPU power cable...

    Same thing happened to me. When I put the 4 pin... the GFX worked too.

    The Gigabyte dude said that it makes no difference whatsoever between 4 pin and 8 pin... I asked him about OC... he said it's the same.

    So I'll try an OC soon.
