Canada trashed out again... http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814103075 DIAMOND.... how many time they declared bankruptcy?! They used to make Nvidia graphic cards.. then sound cards.. then 56K modems.. then I lost track of the company and now ATI cards... what's next?
it's about £200 for cheapest GTX275 and 4890 (aka no-brand with strange coolers) when's Bit-tech's comparison going to be up? im seeing too many different graphs, Guru3D says GTX275 almost always faster while FiringSquad (not my usual source) says 4890 is almost always faster. Bit-tech is the source i trust the most
we've had a few issues with some final tests... shouldn't be long. We're literally waiting to drop some more benchmark results in and then the review is good to go.
I actually can't wait for the review. Damn I want one Regardless of the 275, I still think ATi have it licked right now for value-for-money
I don't know when you think about how close the GTX 275 performs to the 285, and is retailing for £100 less. TBH both cards are great, I'm thinking of the 4890, because it plays GRID so well, and the upcoming F1 2009 game will be based on that engine (Can't wait). However the fan noise issue at load, concerns me..
I'm planning on giving ATI another try for my new GFX card. I've been using 7 & 8 series cards for awhile now. I'm just waiting on BTs full review of the 4890.
If the cooler is the same as the 4870, then under load it'll just spin up to tops 40%, which is not THAT loud. Under almost no circumstances does the fan automatically run at 100% (which sound like a hoover or something).
I have recently purchased two HD4890s from Club3D. I was just wondering if I would be able to fit the previous GPU waterblock for the 4870s' two the HD4890? The reason i bought the two HD4890s is that they were in stock at the moment I needed them. In Norway two 4890s are about 150 dollars cheaper than two GTX 275 cards.
Ok, thank you for that one. But will I be able to mount the 4870 waterblock to the 4890? I don't have the cards here right now, and I don't have any 4870s either, so it's a little bit difficult for me to know if it will fit or not?
Side by side, the 4890 is appreciably louder than the 4870 in our experience with the cards. If the prices are the same (like they are in the UK), we think the 275 is the better value - a lot of that is down to similar/better performance, less noise and better idle/folding power consumption. After all, if your main PC is also your gaming PC, you're going to spend less time gaming than you are idling/folding. The 275 is also quieter (especially when folding). However, if the 4890 is considerably cheaper and the noise isn't a concern to you, it's a great card. We just feel that, in the UK at least, the 275 has trumped the 4890 at the moment - we'll be keeping a close tab on things though.
