I'm sure this has been asked before, and yes, i did some searching, but to no avail... Looking at building my own case from scratch, and was wondering what people do for the I/O panel and Expansion slots. I know most mobos come with the snap-in panel, but what I am wondering, if any of the s on this forum have taken the time to draw up the back panel in Autocad?
I chopped an old one out of an ATX case. I use that for measurements and tracing. There are several case models in the Sketchup Computer parts library. Check the sticky at the top of the page. There's a dxf conversion plugin for sketchup on the net somewhere.
I saw on one of the mineral oil PC builds where someone purchsed a rear panel that had I/O hole and expansion slots already cut. anyone know where I might acquire one?
The majority of us who need pre-cut I/O just use something like a Lian-Li or Mountain MODs removable motherboard tray. Both are excellent quality. I lean towards Lian-Li. Check out one here: http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=314&products_id=3387 The best place for customer service and quick shipping for us in the US. john
Now that is a B-E-A-UTIFUL thing. Doesn't really show how it is mounted to the inside of a case tho, anyone have a pic of the back side? ooh, that sounds dirty... I wanna see your motherboard tray's backside....
You can make your own. Not that hard with the measurments available. I've measured it once for an older project and it fits perfectly using those. http://www.robsinter.net/temp/ATX-backplate.EPS Best thing about it is, that you only need to bend the one section 90° out. Hope that helps.
