What 22" TFT would you recommend. -Up to 1920x1080 for the win. -I might as well cover myself with 2/3 ms responce time for future gaming. -Screen will be used straight ahead on my desk for extended work periods online so a good pannel for eyes please. -22" IIyama E2209HDS-1 looks good. -22" Viewsonic VX2260WM has a nice outside apperance in my view. Has any one got any experience at running at 1920x1080 on a 22" wide, vs running at 1920x1080 on a 24" wide, how suitable is 1920x1080 on a "smaller" 22". Personally 22" is massive in my opinon, with 24" being monster size. If 22" at 1920 is decent on the eyes Im going to pull the triger thursday so please let me know your opinon. Future gaming will be on at least a hd4870 or stuff like fsx. Thank you.
Believe it or not, I bought my last monitor from PC World. About a week or 2 ago. The Dell S2209W is: A 22" screen 1920x1080 Nice to look at Completely free of input lag/inverse ghosting Rather slick HDCP/HDMI compatible (via a DVI adapter, since the monitor itself doesn't have an HDMI port) Comes with the relevant cables (but not the HDMI adapter, sad to say - get a cable like that from anywhere for about a tenner) Cable tidy-able, through the stand Lovely to look at (once you fiddle with the settings in the menu a tad) About £145 from your local PC World (Gordon Brown VAT cut = yay! [/sarcasm]) I luffs it. But the response time, however, is 5ms. Unless you're over 200FPS, you're not likely to notice it. The smaller size of the screen for Full HD means you can do without some (but not necessarily all) of the AA and AF, and not worry about it looking any different. This is ESPECIALLY true on games that will crap all over any GPU used with AA/AF (read: anything published by Crytek) Just my £0.02, but buying from a shop nearby saves heartache with delivery costs as well, and makes returns due to faults that much easier. (NB - don't buy into the insurance/cover - Dell give a 1-year warranty with the thing) Hope I've been of use, Will
I'm waiting for my VX2260VM to come through. Nowhere has it in stock so they have to order it in specially for you, but looking through loads of reviews it should hopefully be worth it.

Im going to have to have a long hard think for a few days, the dell is a clever recommendation. I can pick any thing on the go but I always have this undecided problem with computer parts
At 16:9 you lose a little screen real estate on the 22-inchers. The Dell S2409W would do the job well, especially now that you're considering a 24" screen anyway.
+1 for the Dell S2209W Purchased 3 of em couple of months back and am very pleased with them. Great for both gaming and movies! EDIT:... just visited Dixons to grab link and appears they stopped stocking this display, shame Tip: head to Dixons instead of PC World.... its the same price, but dixsons offer free shipping and there is also a 5% off code floating around online for orders over £150. How so? A 16:10 22" is only 1680x1050, where as 16:9 22" is 1920x1080 so thats an extra 240x30 pixels, which actually gives you more real estate.
If you're not dead-set on 1920x1080/1200 then have a look at the Dell UltraSharp 2209WA. You probably won't find better image quality at this price point. You can read a nice review here.
I have a 2209wa. Had the same sort of 22" or 24" 1920 or 1680 thoughts and set on this. It is very nice and would advise it. Stand, Viewing Angles, Colours are all very good and gaming has no visible lag. Not the best pic but: http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/nn259/peggmike/Computer/setup_800.jpg
*Physical* real estate, not resolution. 22" 16:9 actually have 21-21.5 inches viewable area. Exactly why I asked that earlier question - I wanted to suggest the 2009WA. Brilliant monitor, apparently (I'm a member at the linked site )
It *is* brilliant. Our company just bought about 30 of them after a very short trial run of 3 (initiated by me). Apparently the e-IPS panel is a cheaper, not quite as good version of the regular IPS panels, but if I compare the image quality of my LG 2600HP (S-IPS) with the Dell 2209WA there's absolutely no difference in quality. I might almost be tempted to say the Dell looks better, but considering my more expensive LG I'd never do that...

I have read the more than helpful responces and I am going to go with the Dell 2209WA because of the promise of rich colours through the e-IPS pannel. I also liked the idea of the vesa arm mount if I wished to lay out the desk differently for triple head to go in the future. Thank you all very much for the input.

I work pretty much most of the time in a darkly lit environment so this could be a big issue for me, and as importantly others. Once I get the screen up and running Id like to post back about this "2209WA is below poor in a dark room" and give my impression on it. This point may have swade me back to the 24" tn.
