saw some benchys of this and looks amazing value for money. 4770 x2 = < £160 4890 = £190-210 according to the benchys i saw the 4770 in crossfire were about 20% faster on average than the single 4890. £160 gets you a 4870 1GB or a 260 (216) and the 4890 is better than both of these. first time the Xfire seems to make sense to me. any seen anything else or already have Xfire with these beasts.
i think i must have read the same article, a pair of these look to be the new bang for buck gpu, i only bought a 4890 a few days ago and begining to wonder if a 4770 xfire would have been a better buy, £30 cheaper and 20% faster, i know people will say but what about games that dont support crossfire but i think any game thats worth playing will pretty much support xfire
Doesn't surprise me much. Saw an article run a few weeks ago that pitted 2x4830 against a GTX 285, and the 285 got creamed. - Diosjenin -
Turns out it was the 280, sorry, not the 285. The article is here - and they didn't even overclock the 4830s, which has also been known to increase their performance to 4850 levels or higher. - Diosjenin -
I think I saw something like this at TweakTown or somewhere, a few months ago, about two 4670's in Crossfire being as fast as a 4870 or something, for a similar price. Pushed me over the edge on getting one, as I was strapped of cash at that time, and also wanted a quad core. So I thought I would simply buy another one later. lol. I still haven't, because for some reason, Crysis runs quite well on high. I don't know exactly why, but I won't question the spirits in the magic smoke, just this once
