This was on an episode of "Coast" on the BBC, where they used it as intended. They hooked up a mic at the focal point and got a bi-plane to fly at it from across the channel (going daga-daga-daga all the way i presume!). IIRC they used the big long wall to pick it up, which it did! good ep. its repeated a lot you may catch it (hmm not so much in the US of A).

Some awesome ones on there - how about the unfinished nuclear reactor, or the abandoned submarine base?

 

That sub base is so amazing. And that reactor is creepy as ****.

I really enjoyed the shipwrecks and the military/nuclear stuff. Very fun to look at.

Ghost towns are screwed up, though. I mean.. You're walking where no one has, or will, for some time. Creeps me the hell out.

I'm surprised Marchington Barracks isn't on there, actually.

Went there with a friend in for a photo thing. So weird meandering around there in airsoft kit. Should have seen the generator room and the oil tanks.

That is an interesting site. It would be fascinating to do the research into and visit those places, but very creepy at the same time!

i've been there! awesome beach. you can only get to it by boat, so they stop in the deep water and you all jump off and swim to the beach. it's great. if anyone finds themselves near Zakynthos in Greece on holiday, make sure you take a trip there!

 

Agreed - Most of my holidays have been to Zante, and that boat trip's a winner.

Love that island, even if they did have a few earthquakes in the 2 weeks I was there last!

Those're the two diesel/oil/whatever towers - Last one with Vinnie on the top. Still confused as to how he made it up there, the ladder was cut off about eight feet off the ground.

 

16 years in a labor union as a single man gets you all over the US. 38 states + Alaska, inside minuteman missile silos, inside atomic reactors while being built and while running, -70F on Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Gave it up for my lady/wife Marilyn, went back to college again to get EE degree and switched to software and testing.

agh no!!!! that boat trip almost killed me!!! 2 years ago we were there! out bout was about 5 inchs from toppelin over, we were hit by a wave...since then i wont go on no little boat! still gives me nightmares!
