Personally I've been really impressed with the Dell S2409W I brought 6 months ago. 24" 1920 x 1080, with VGA, DVI and HDMI ports. It also supports audio over HDMI and has an audio out port on the back, mainly for driving the speaker bar (optional extra).
Works nicely as a monitor for my desktop and a screen for my Blu-ray player.
    Not bad for £230

    Guys I'm buying a rig:
    Antec 1200
    Gainward GTX275 [https://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=447164]
    Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD3R [https://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=428330]
    Core i7-920
    Samsung SP F1
    Be Quiet! DPP 650W
    Scythe Mugen 2
    Viewsonic VX2260WM [https://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=MMEB921011]
    others doesn't matter
I need help to decide wether I invest the last 100 quid (left for my budget) in buying anything better, or should I get something (like sound card)? I'm thinking getting bigger monitor (VIEWSONIC VX2433WM [https://www.elara.ie/products/detailsfull.asp?productcode=MMEB921017]) or a 'bigger' PSU of 850W or so..

I have already purchased all the parts from your affordable list. The only thing which I did not follow is the optical drive and the rams.
The rams=ebay store like corsair something2 same specs £10 less.
DVD DL from local computer store, £16+ (cheaper than shipping & handling online)
The only thing I did follow is the microdirect for the PSU and they have a reduced price for the Seagate 500gb HD. Bought there as well.
Most I bought from Amazon store. Cheaper & free shipping. I think you could add amazon store right?
The Antec 300 I bought from 3000rpm.com, free shipping in my area. Cheaper too.

The list does not include Shipping & Handling, so you better have extra for those.

I will calculate the total cost of all the stuff and post here later (or next months issue after I finish building it.
