Hello, I have reccently built my first computer. My processor is a Dual-Core Pentium Processor (E6300 Wolfdale @ 2.80 GHz) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116091 My reported frequency (bios) is 2.2 GHz, I ran the Intel Burn Test and my processor peaked at 2.2 GHz @ 100% CPU usage on both cores. It is necessary for the CPU to be at a higher clock, because I intend to get a XFX HD 4850, which might not work as well as well as it can. Please mind that I am not very tech savvy, and that this is my first build. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Please feed us with more specs, like mb, memory, bios is everything auto?
Maybe you just have put it something wrong in the bios, or bios need and update for recognize your wolfdale?
But we need to know your specs first.

You need to set the CPU multiplier manually in the BIOS. By default it's on the lowest (6). Just set it to the highest possible.

This wont damage the PC will it? Remember, I'm not a experienced user. I can't really trust myself too much. One time I ruined my MBR by deleting a partition I had installed Ubuntu on, thinking it would 'uninstall' it.

Well I grew a pair and I fixed it. Now I have another interesting problem. My CPU appears to clock itself down when its idle. Is there a way to disable this, and if so; would it increase preformance?

It just saves some power (when idle), and disabling it won't increase performance.
