CPU Core 2 Duo E7400 and Thermal Compound

    I read that the stock heatsink that comes with the Core 2 Duo E7400 already has Thermal Compound applied to it, does anyone know if this is true?

    If it is true, is it good enough to keep the CPU cool? I don't plan to overclock it.

    as far as ive seen they do. its usually easy enough to fit it and check the the temps to see if you think its running cool enough :)

    Pre-applied TIM will do the job, but I would still recommend to buy an aftermarket TIM (even if you are not overclocking it). It's not expensive and it's much better than the generic stuff.

    For a processor running at stock with the stock cooler I wouldn't even bother changing the TIM, it's perfectly adequate for the job.

    don't bother... normally that should eb good enough for stock speeds...

    Just be careful with the push pins as they have a habit of breaking .

    I always change stock for AS5 even on non OC'd cpu's as it drops the temp anyway.
