Words don't do this mod justice. I'll try anyways:

    Superincrediblybeautifullycraftedcasethatneverceasestoamaze

    :duh:See? It's just become a big jumble....

One thing is clear though: MDPC.
Or make that GDPC (Google-Dollar-PC - I mean the number btw)

This is what makes me want to give up trying to mod.
I sit down and spin ideas around, draw a few things, look at some logs for ideas, then i look at cygnus.....
when i look back at my plans, i hang my head in shame with the knowledge that i will never attain such levels of pure awesomeness....

If i say that oldnewby is a god, will i get lynched?

    Thanks mate. :thumb:

    Thank you. :)

    Thanks. :thumb:

    Thank you. :thumb:

    Thanks. :thumb:

    Thanks. :)

I'd like to but spare time is elusive. :thumb:

    Thanks guys. :thumb:

    Haha, thanks TG. :)

    Thanks you. :)

    Thanks. :)

Thanks, I don't know how old you are, but I'm guessing young, well I couldn't have
made this at any other point in my life. In my teens I was chasing skirt. In my twenties I was painting pictures, playing in a band and chasing skirt. In my thirties I
was painting pictures, restoring a car, renovating a house, playing golf and chasing
skirt. In my forties I stopped chasing skirt and settled on the one. Then kids etc you
know. I guess what I'm trying to say is that things will happen when it's time for them
to happen. Either that or I'm just waffling on again. :hehe:

This is as far as I got before my brain caught up with my hands.

The idea was to have the front and top fold up and over the back. This would have
been OK if they were the same size or the front was shorter than the top, but the
front is longer and wont clear the top front corner in this scheme. So I threw that idea
out the window and settled for fixed top and front. Having now done this I realized
that separate boxes for each section was superfluous, and the alu side pieces could be made of one piece and fixed directly to the side panels, cool.

Then I needed to address the problem of the side panels fouling the top when opened. If you remember there is an overhang on the rear of each side panel,
so I'm thinking about removing this. One way is to cut it off square.

The only problem with this is that the rear pads will be uncovered, but this could also
look good. The other option is to cut at an angle.

I'm still thinking about this. The other thing I've been thinking about is this, the top
and front will be made of overlapping alu segments and these have to be curved. So
I tried various methods to do this, none successful. I went searching on ebay and
ended up buying one of these.

This little slip roller can put any kind of curve in I want. It works very well, can take
material up to 2mm and can roll a piece up into a cylinder if needed. It's really very
    cool.
So I should be able to post more regularly, hang on, I shouldn't say that, hopefully
    I can post again soon.

Phew, I saw all the replies to previous comments and thought "damn, no pics or progress", then my heart skipped a beat when I saw more progress.

It's a joy to watch this come together, I don't care how slowly, it's just so damn well made! :thumb:

That is a nice piece of equipment there. I can't wait to have a place of my own that has a workshop.

And I say again, that wood looks amazing :thumb:

Cant never get enough of the Cygnus. This the only project I have been following in which I still browse through old updates just to see the amazing work again and again.

Can you tell what is that new device called - I am interested getting one. And was it available in Oz or did it come from os?

Made my day, even though I'm on vacation on Rhodes, Greece!

This (I say again) is incredible, can't wait to see that "roller" tool (what's the proper name?) in use to make yet another awesome detail/part of this piece of art and genuine craftsmanship. I mean, the words "PC", "case" and "casemod" and even "scratch build" don't do Cygnus any justice.

    Art. In progress.

    Keep it up! :thumb:

In the US we call it a sheet metal roller. It is massively useful for working on car restoring. If you look closely at the right edge you can see grooves in the rollers. That's so you can roll metal rods too. Roll the rods and weld them on for new wheel arches and repairs on cars.

Cool tool. Much goodness for Cygnus will come from this I predict.

I've been meaning to get me one of those rollers. It's on my list right next to the bending brake. Looking forward to seeing those curved pieces in place.

    Thanks mate. :thumb:

Thanks Ziip. :thumb: Yes it's taking far too long but I never thought of this when I
started. The next one will be better planned.

    Thanks. :)

Thanks. :) It's a mini slip roller or metal roll. I bought it on ebay from a local distributor, but I think it's made in China (isn't everything :hehe:).

Thanks I wasn't having a go at you, just trying to help. ;)

Thanks TG. :) Man, I wish I was there. :hehe:

    Thanks John. :thumb:

Yeah, I wouldn't have bought it just for this but the next project will use this heaps. :thumb:

Thanks. :thumb: I don't know if you've read the whole log, but near the start I show
a home made bending brake that's very simple (and cheap) to make and is very
    effective.

    Thank you. :)
