    Hi,

I started this project a long time ago, a year or something. It's almost finished, dvd-writer's front cover still needs to be painted.

    Hope you like it. :worried:

    Used my old hardware:

    • XP2000+
    • 768Mb PC2700
    • R9600
    • 320Gb Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
    • Corsair VX450

    Made a quick sketch:

Here you can see what the case originally looked like (started smoothing it, but it looked a bit dull so I dumped that idea):

Had some blue acrylic lying around, used it to build up the air intake and cover the 3,25" bay.
The white gooey stuff is a two part epoxy based glue, you can also see the white 1" PVC pipe that I cut in half to make the inside of the duct:

Then I raised the sides of the 5,25" bay so that the optical drive would stick out:

Then I used some body filler and sanded it down to make it some nice curves  :

    Started on the side window:

    And again some filler:

Then I cut a hole to the other side to show the green PCB :hehe: :

Some more bondo and sanding pads:

And then I sent it off to a paint shop (it's great when someone in the family makes a living painting cars :D):

I like this shot a lot :

    On/off button and hdd-led:

Quite happy with the results :p.
It isn't perfect but it gave me a load of new ideas. :thumb:

For my next project I'll do a scratch build that would become my new main computer for CAD and rendering. I think there's a sketch somewhere in my notebooks, only need to find it and take a picture of it.
Although first I have to work on my glassfiber skills that are non-exsistent at the moment :worried:. Is someone familiar with that and could give me some tips? :geek:
What's a good material to start building the positive?

(if I used some odd expressions or grammar, then be free to comment them, I'd really appreciate it :),haven't had any english practise for a few years)

Little bit of searching and I managed to find a rough sketch :

But that's not going to happen in the near future, I might make the outer shell this year, but not more.
More important things first, like my studies and close ones, who really matter. :)

It says Fuji... under the sloppy bondowork on the first picture. Can't remember if it was Fujitsu-Siemens or just Fujitsu.

Was browsing through a local hardware forum's used hardware section and stumbled on it.
All the sides were plastic, motherboard was upside down and it was a old which meant it's built like a tank. :thumb:

    One coat.
First it was painted with a dark gray color with a small flake in it, but it didn't turn out good - too thick and some cracks came up on the left panel. Different materials (acrylic, filler, plastic and metal) didn't expand the same in the oven. So I sanded it down, sprayed on a heavy coat of primer, had it painted again and dried without baking.

Few pics of the original color (didn't adjust the lightning so it has a gold hue to it):

And in the last picture you can see a slot between the front and side panel, that's a smartcard reader:
