Thanks for the kind words Krikkit, and everyone else. I've decided I'm going to re take the exams and apply again next year, since I won't be happy unless I'm at Bristol! Only downside is that I'll need to retake ICT too, because they're upping the entry requirements to AAA next year.
I know a few people who were rejected outright by Bristol for just missing grades, with no plea bargaining I totally recommend you try again though, it's a fantastic place!
Whoa, I feel like such a douche for what I wrote about Bristol earlier... sorry guys in my defense though - I have never heard of this university before applying last year, and the requirements were said to be within 33-37 IB points range for me, with upper bound being already UCL/LSE/Oxford region, and whilst all these rejected me, bristol gave me 37 point offer which was very high for what was supposed to be a backup choice. Also it was too easy getting in there, given that I got 43, I guess I just cannot appreciate where I am going, but I hope this will change
*ahem* Naturally... I had my exam resit today, thus concluding my first year of uni. Went swimmingly. Spent at least 4hrs a day on BiT the whole week leading up to it I'm the worst procrastinator I know, honestly. I somehow manage to get by, though. Touchwood. /touches wood (lol) So begins my real holiday of absolute bugger-all-ery...cept tomorrow, when I'm doing my CBT again! Yay!
Right now I am trying to transfer Universities and playing the "Give us your transcripts from the last 24 months for EVERY test you took and EVERY extracurricular, and Etc." I am already out about 200 in transcript fees alone on 1 uni
6 A3's, 1 B, 1C and a D Thank you for asking Grats to all of those who got into uni. I just finished at Edinburgh and am going to do postgrad at Cambridge next year, woo!
My missus has just graduated this year with a first, is off to Leeds to do a master's in environmental geochemistry and she's 35 this year (I think, I 'm proper rubbish with birthdays: even my own). She was contemplating a Phd, but couldn't face being about 40 when she finally finished Uni. I had to drop out last year 'cos we couldn't really afford 2 Uni students in the house so I went back to work. Being a mature student is a bit wierd, but you'll find it's quite fun: you'll probably have the right kind of work ethic too, which is to pretty much treat it as a 9-5 job, but with you paying for it. A lot of people going straight into advanced education from school treat it like school education, which it's not: you don't have to go, so they don't. They get drunk and copy their mates notes a few days later. Pretty much what I did when I first went in '97. Anyway, congrats peeps: Have fun, but not too much. Remember, you poor sods are paying through the nose for this. You may as well come out with an actual degree.
so, 3 is the standard and smarter people take 4-6 (you crazy people), i take it. I "only" took 3. Got straight As though
People at my school have taken 7. Anyway, if anyone wants to know my GCSEs I got: Physics - A* Chemistry - A* Biology - A* Mathematics - A* Electronics - A* English - A* English Lit - A Geography - A ICT - A French - A German - C Latin - D (Taken 2 years ago) German was odd since I had a low-A/high-B going into the exam from CW which is 50% of the marks and the exam seemed like it went pretty well. I also scored A*s in Geography and ICT in my mocks as well but nevermind. The two of my friend's I've spoken two got 8 A*s, 3 As and a B and 9 A*s and 2 As which was a bit of a hit to my ego.
Well done. The BBC had an article a couple days ago that the GCSE scores were the highest ever. You guys are taking education seriously! john
tbh, GCSE's are mostly sixth form/college (UK college, not US college) entrance exams, and are quickly forgotten >.>
