Yeah, I think the straight edges on the nose gives this impression, if you cover up the nose it looks OK. I'm going to redo the nose.;)

in any case, the new pics with every other plate removed make it a lot easier to look at already. You're right, it was too crowded. Now some extra curve to the nose and it'll be perfect. Like eveything else on the case.

Yeah mate that looks loads better, i'd still like to see the whole piece raised up so that the fins end flush with the case (if you can be bothered that is) if you think it would look crap forget it.

I don't know what you're all on about... that looked perfect to me the first time! ;)

Now the removed plates look even better!

We must always obey the fuzzy image. It will show us the way. LOL

    Great work mate!

When you speak of "fixing the nose", are you talking about making the portion closest to the fins match the angle you've put on the fins themselves?

Because if so, I agree wholeheartedly :thumb:

    WOW!
More stunning than Captain Kirk's sidearm.....lol
Truly beautiful, maybe the edges of the nose would look svelte with the whole curved edges trimmed in the matching hardwood about 2 mm, just subtle enough to see.

    Masterpiece.

Amazing work dude, I missed this one. Just worked my way through the entire project log and it really is incredible. I wasn't sure where you were going with all the wood, but it has turned out epic.

    Thanks a lot everyone. :thumb:

@Fisher, Either continue the same curve as the plates or, the reverse or, a combination
of the two. Basically anything but straight.
@Cookie Monster, I'm pretty certain the plate assembly has to sit down, in
    between the side panels.

As for the auto comparisons, I don't know that particular car, but there are a hundred
cars with gills and vents of all descriptions that I've seen over the years as well as
various types of aircraft. These have, no doubt, had an influence on not just the top,
    but the whole case.

just been reading the first few pages. (wanted to see the bending jig, might build one)
you say it was milled on a 15 degree angle. what does this actually mean? ive been trying to work out. also, what type of aluminium have you been using to bend?

    great work as always.

Looking stellar oldnewboy! Though you do realize you are setting the bar pretty high for the rest of us ;) Not that modding and scratch builds should be about that anyway. Cygnus is what true love of the craft looks like.

The top looks great, definitely more streamlined without the extra louvers. Seems like all you need to do with the nose is extend the top of it back to meet the first louver somehow to get rid of the gap inbetween, just my 2 cents. I am sure your mind is forming a devious plan for this as we speak :D

Oh, and when you get to finishing Cygnus X1 we will all be sorely dissapointed if there is not an X2 immediately after. You know you need a matching server or media center or something:hip:

I was going to say that I liked the first one a lot, but then I saw the second one and I would have to agree with you. It actually looks a lot better.

@Agressions - Is that the new Lambo? (the one to replace the Murcielago) or their concept car?

The fins look so much better with every second one removed, you have done a great job. Now all you have to do is tweak the front a little, looks kinda "sharp" to me.
