    Hi Guys

New to external storage ( except for 2.5" portables). Looking for a 1TB exernal drive that will spin down when not in use.

Is this something that is available? If so, any suggestions? If not, what should i be looking at?

    Cheers in advance.

I have a WD MyBook Studio that spins down when not in use. I also have a Seagate one at work as well as a couple LaCie disks and iirc they too spin down when not in use. I'm 100% on the MyBook though. Besides they all cost roughly the same :)
I would think all in the MyBook series spin down when idle for a while.

I would reckon most of the major brand ones have decent power management. The Seagate one I have at work is the standing one that's got white light towards the table... A mac-like contraption ;)
Congrats on the kid! :) Mine's just turning 6 months on tuesday. It's great :)

I have several WD external terabyte drives. They all spin down after like 10 minutes.
