How many of you guys are actually going to order it when it releases? I know I have to wait until I think my Crossfire 4890's is insufficient for HD gaming...

Probably quite a few, a lot of us are due an upgrade. :)

Having said that, it'd be mad not to wait for nVidia's new cards.

    Have to agree.

Expected somewhere around December aren't they?

For the sake of 3 months, wouldn't want to sink £280+ into a card for it for Nvidia to suprize in December.

I've got 2x 4890 XXX Editions atm. Going to wait for the 5870 X2 and Nvidia cards before i get one. Fingers crossed all out in December ish time so i got something to spend my christmas bonus on.

Although as far as raw gaming power – i think ATi are going to top of this next lot of cards.

Tbh like i’ve always done. I’ll buy whatever benchmarks highest according to Bit-Tech review, unless the price / performance ratio is completely ridicules.

Similar like when i looked at the 4890 vs 285. 285 was £270 at the time.. The 4890 XXX Edition was £160 on offer.. For the extra £110 i would get 5 odd fps more on average. So went for the 4890.

im looking for a gpu upgrade soon, and im thinking itd be sensible to wait for these to come out considering i get paid at the end of this month, im reckoning a 5870 would handle my 24 inch screen..?

or do you guys reckon the market will crash out prices a bit, and itd be more sensible to invest in a solid 4890 or gtx 275?

    A 5870 is too much for a 24'' monitor, I'd go for a 4890 or a 275.

If amazing frames at 1900 x 1200 I'd probably buy it as I wont need an upgrade for like 3-4 years lol.

Im waiting to see what NV through at me... I have dual gtx295 cards and a gtx285 for physx. If the 5870 can beat this I would be supprised. Hell I would be suprised if 3 of these could beat this set up.

How much do we reckon the 5850 is going to retail for (at launch)?

I don't know about you guys but I'm not really that impressed... I thought it was going to reach the 20K mark, I guess I was hoping for too much.

IMO, I thought it was supposed to stomp the crap out of everything that is out there at the moment. However, the GTX 295 seems to be beating it in most games. I know its only a single gpu against a double but I was expecting better things.

Looks like it's not living up to those other benchmarks.
    Lame :(
