    Hi

My employer's blocked Gmail - is there any way around this, or am I shafted?

    I'm thinking the latter

    :grr:

You think you've got it bad - mine's just blocked Google and all the rest of the search engines, together with a load of other stuff!

I can still get into google.ca. :worried:

There are plenty of ways around it, but you may end up with disciplinary action or losing your job out of it. Its blocked for a reason.

    Nice one, I got in!

    iGoogle to the rescue

I can get access to my inbox and read mails! It comes from the google.com url, rather than mail.google.com, so less likely to be blocked...I hope!

    Nice!

I should have just googled, rather than ask, because there's a shtload of ways around it, apprently!

But the fact you're running up a load of encrypted traffic will raise a lot of suspicion

Not to mention that using tor for everyday stuff isn't exactly the best etiquette.

i had a scarey day at work a few months , they blocked bit-tech!

work in a government office where id say im the youngest by maybe 5 years atleast and one morning i went onto bit tech and it came up as blocked and the only reason stated was "productivity". id be very confident that I would be the only person out of maybe 100 in the building that would even know what bit-tech was.

was unblocked after an hour or so though

 A few years ago, we only had access to the internal intranet, and gradually they allowed more and more people access to more and more of the internet. Now we seem to be headed in the other direction again. :sigh:

Ah well, that's what a tablet PC and mobile broadband stick is for! :D

Here is a rhetorical question for all you people.

How do you test Internet security without being connected to the Internet?

    Job interview question.

By doing everything from the computer and testing it against 127.0.0.1 or by doing it from the LAN and attacking it from there. Or by not caring since it will probably not be connected to the internet.
