Can I run both Internet Explorer and Opera Browser on my computer? I was going to get Firefox, but I heard that if you run Firefox and Internet Explorer, a vulnerability in internet explorer can be used to exploit Firefox. So is it safe to install Internet explorer and Opera? Thanks.
Hi there, It's perfectly safe to use Opera and Internet Explorer, and in fact I'd highly reccomend using Opera, as it's (in my opinion) the best browser out there
A friend of mine told me that, and after reading up on it, I think you might be right. Thanks for the reply.
Ive been using opera for years now and imo it is the best browser available! the only issue i have is that it doesnt work very well with HSBC online banking or the selling part of ebay. Other than that i use it for all my browsing.
It sounds good, I just downloaded it and am looking at the licence agreement. It says "you may not use the software on non PC products or devices or imbedded in any other product including but not limited to.......gaming machines." What do they mean by that, gaming PC's??
It's just a thing to prevent people hacking it into working for the Nintendo Wii, 'cos Opera like to charge for Opera for Wii, last time I checked. Don't worry, you're fine for a PC you play games on
I run Chrome, IE, FF and Opera - all on the same machine. Exploits exist for all browsers. If you have good, clean browsing habits, you should eb fairly safe (of course, Anti virus software is a must, as well as some sort of firewall. Both should be updated regularly)
Chrome, all the way =] I have internet explorer and Firefox but I really dont like IE and Firefox has gotten pretty slow of late.
I like opera except on java apps, if you write a right click in that app- the stupid opera menu pops up over it.. I dunno if they've fixed that nowdays but that was really annoying
Beware, once you get used to the mouse gestures you will never go back! And here's a cool skin for ya: http://my.opera.com/community/customize/skins/info/?id=373
+1! You will want them everywhere when you start using them. And using Firefox or IE will be a PITA when they don't support mouse gestures.
Install Firefox. Install AdBlockPlus addon. Whitelist bit-tech.net (because we like to support this website). Never open Internet Explorer again for any reason (that'll stop it being exploited). Never see another ad on any website. Anywhere. Ever again. Smile at the internet for the first time in ten years. It made me a new man!
Thanks very much for the advice. I don't mind ads but I guess it would reduce loading times. Thank you, I'll try it out soon. Thanks to everyone else who took the time to reply
I always use Firefox (I find it the best because the extension I use with it can't be found on other browsers), but now I'm trying Chrome that I have to admit is pretty fast (renders very quickly the pages). IE 8 is installed on my pc but is never used. Anyway...you can install as many browsers as you want. It doesn't make a difference.
I just tried Opera again, and as before, I just can't get on with it. Or rather, I've got so used to firefox, that Opera just doesn't work how I'm used to. Plus, it doesn't look like you can get something like ABP on Opera, which is the best thing on Firefox. And Opera actually feels slower then FF, maybe thats because FF has already got all my pages cahced, hence loads them faster. So I've now gone back to FF, I like it, and it does what I want it to.
has to be chrome for me! its so fast to load up and load the pages! no problems with trying to buy things or java scripts or anythign! its perfect! so much faster than any other browser i have used! and i have used the ones stated here! think i might wait to see what the google OS is like too!!!
I hooked on FF, I've tried chrome but I didn't really like it but I didn't really try it for that long so maybe this weekend I'll try out some new browsers
